The Gorol people looked very similar to Earthlings, so although Su Li's clothes seemed somewhat unusual, he did not draw much attention as he walked down the street. Aside from a few people giving him a glance, no one paid him any mind.
However, while others did not care about Su Li, he himself was rather excited. Though he had come here many times already, everything here still felt incredibly fresh to him.
Su Li had grown tired of houses floating in the sky, but what about pet cats flying low through the air on tiny wings?
Su Li walked while looking around, feeling thoroughly delighted.
A moment later, after Su Li passed a structure standing on the ground that resembled a Phone Booth, he suddenly stopped.
Because the long-disappeared Blue Screen had appeared before him again.
Ever since the Blue Screen appeared three days ago and confirmed for Su Li that he was not dreaming, it had completely vanished.
During that time, Su Li had tried calling out to it and summoning it with his thoughts, all to no avail. He had not expected it to appear on its own again today!
After glancing around, Su Li found that no one was paying attention to him, confirming that only he could see this Blue Screen.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Su Li slowly began studying the Blue Screen.
Name: Su Li Location: Virtual Universe - Gorol Star - Ninth Main City Rank: None Talent: None Shop: Not unlocked Resource Points: 1 PS: Population, land, wealth—everything you possess can be turned into Resource Points. Tasks: "Grolar Chapter" — Become a Superhuman and continue advancing on the Path of Superpowers. You will receive Resource Points at every stage of the mission.
The words on the Blue Screen had not changed much since its first appearance. The only difference was that a mission had appeared at the bottom of the screen.
"Superhumans? What the hell is that? The mission says 'Grolar Chapter.' Could it be some technological creation of this civilization? Like Superman?" Su Li was utterly baffled.
Just as Su Li was wondering about this, the door of the Phone Booth-like structure beside him suddenly opened.
Su Li turned around and saw a little boy barely over a meter tall walk out while holding a bottle of pale blue potion.
At the sight of that pale blue potion, Su Li's heart suddenly skipped a beat. His intuition told him that the thing was somehow meant for him.
"..."
After looking at the Patrol Metal Balls scattered around the street, Su Li ultimately did not entertain any crooked thoughts.
Even if the little boy looked young, Su Li might end up wanted after tricking him. Faced with those densely packed little robots, Su Li felt that unless he never set foot on this planet again, getting caught would be inevitable.
Besides, bullying a child was no gentleman's deed!
Su Li thought silently.
While Su Li was thinking, the little boy had already walked several meters away.
"**&...%¥!"
Suddenly, Su Li shouted "Hello!" at the little boy using one of the few words he had learned over the past several days.
Little boy: ??!
When the little boy stopped walking, Su Li quickly ran over.
"@%...&@?" the little boy asked.
"..."
Su Li did not speak. He pointed at his mouth, then waved his hand, indicating that they could communicate through gestures.
Seeing Su Li's movements, the little boy frowned. A moment later, realization dawned on his face, and he took two silver-white balls of unknown material from his pocket. He handed one to Su Li and stuffed the other into his own ear.
Watching the little boy's practiced movements, Su Li was completely dumbfounded.
Only after a moment did he react. After taking the ball from the little boy, he copied him and stuffed it into his ear.
"Hello. Are you a newly arrived immigrant?" the little boy's voice appeared in Su Li's mind, and its meaning was crystal clear. Su Li was amazed. The technological level of this world truly was unfathomable. A little boy had casually pulled out such black technology.
However, Su Li's attention was quickly drawn to another word!
"Immigrant?"
Su Li hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Whatever the boy had misunderstood, he might as well admit it first.
"So you really are an immigrant. I saw an introduction about your people in a book today. It said that your ancestors were a branch of us Gorol people. Now that your homeland has suffered disaster, you have nowhere to go. It was the great Gorol that selflessly took you in!" the little boy excitedly recounted what he had read in the book today.
"Thank the great Gorol!"
Although Su Li had no idea what the little boy was talking about, that did not stop him from flattering him first. After all, this was their territory. There was nothing wrong with saying nice things!
"Mm!"
The little boy nodded very seriously. From the look of it, had he accepted Su Li's gratitude?
Su Li did not know whether it was an illusion, but he always felt that the one standing opposite him did not seem like a child.
"Um, my name is Su Li. I'm an immigrant, and I arrived here three days ago." Su Li instantly adapted to his identity as an immigrant and used it to bluff the little boy.
"I'm Bes. Mr. Su Li, is there anything you need help with? The book said that you have just arrived in Gorol and are unfamiliar with everything. As your hosts, we ought to lend a hand!"
Su Li: ??!
Are you sure the book was not just fooling you?
Su Li felt that just as helping the weak was a kind of political correctness on Earth, it was probably much the same in Gorol.
On Earth, whether people helped the weak depended entirely on their mood, or they merely put on a show. Gorol probably was not much different. Bes's IQ had clearly reached a considerable level, but his emotional intelligence... tsk, tsk. He actually believed what books said. He truly had no idea how treacherous the world could be!
Then again, that made sense. This little boy looked only six or seven years old. Children that age on Earth were still playing in mud. What emotional intelligence could they have? Let alone a sense of social responsibility like this little boy's.
"I just wanted to ask what the bottle of potion in your hand is. I feel like I might need it!" Although he was mocking him internally, Su Li still stated his purpose directly.
"You mean you feel that you need Superpower Potion?" Bes looked astonished.
"Superpower Potion?" Su Li understood immediately. No wonder the Blue Screen had suddenly appeared earlier and added a mission. It was probably related to this Superpower Potion.
Just from the name, he knew that if he wanted to become a Superhuman, he would probably need this thing!
Su Li thought silently.
"If you need Superpower Potion, you can just go get some! It's not anything precious!" Bes pointed at the Phone Booth-like structure behind Su Li.
"Get some?"
Su Li was instantly drawn to that word.
"Yes!" Bes nodded proudly and said,
"In Gorol, every citizen can use their citizen ID to collect one dose of 'Superpower Potion' from roadside pharmacies every year. This is also one of the important reasons why Gorol has tens of millions of Superhumans!"
"So even after receiving Superpower Potion, one might not necessarily become a Superhuman?" Su Li instantly caught the key point in Bes's words.
The population of the Gorol Civilization could not possibly be only ten million. If everyone could drink Superpower Potion, yet there were only tens of millions of Superhumans...
"Of course. The book says that the chance of becoming a Superhuman is extremely small, less than one in a thousand. Most people drink Superpower Potion once a year, yet they can never become Superhumans before dying of old age!"
Su Li: ???
