Background

Xia Ke was born with severe congenital amblyopia and an unusually large appetite. These traits made her the target of ridicule and left her deeply insecure; she was largely isolated at Donghai University and had few social connections. Her family was involved in organizing Donghai's Glutton King competition, and she was originally expected to participate as their candidate. 10 44

After seeing Su Li eat in the university cafeteria, Xia Ke nervously approached him and asked him to compete in her place. Su Li accepted, and Xia Ke's father later gave him additional compensation after witnessing his exceptional performance. 10 13 15
