"Welcome back. I just saw you fly away." Qing Wan opened the door and said.
Her eyes stared straight at Chen Tian, while her little hands fidgeted uneasily.
Chen Tian answered, "I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine."
Then he turned to look at the Second Demon God, Helles, lying on the ground.
Blood had flowed across the floor, but he still clung to his final breath.
Chen Tian walked over and took a look. He placed his hand against Helles's forehead, and before long, a streak of blue light burrowed into his head.
Then Helles's body began repairing itself at a speed visible to the naked eye!
In no more than three breaths, his body had completely recovered, and the wings behind him folded away as well.
"Cough, cough—"
Helles awoke, rubbed his body, then rose to his feet. He looked at Chen Tian without saying a word.
There was a faint change in his eyes.
His pupils had originally been cross-shaped, but now they had become like a human's. At a glance, there did not seem to be much difference.
"You saved me. Why?" Helles asked, his gaze shifting to the figure behind Chen Tian.
"Yakelis! What happened to you?!"
The person standing behind Chen Tian was none other than the First Demon God, Yakelis. He had not dealt her a killing blow, but had spared her life.
He had merely placed her under his control.
Yakelis stepped forward and said slowly, "From today onward, I am no longer the leader of the Seventy-Two Demon Gods. My master is now him—Chen Tian."
Helles's face was filled with disbelief. Those words had actually come from the mouth of the dignified First Demon God, Yakelis.
They had truly left his jaw hanging!
Helles knew very well that although the Seventy-Two Demon Gods were powerful, they were all subordinates of the "Master."
And among them, the one who revered the "Master" most was none other than Yakelis!
Yet the person least likely to betray him had become the first to do so.
"If even Yakelis has been controlled, then I suppose I'm the same, since you spared my life," Helles said blandly.
Chen Tian smiled faintly and did not deny it.
Helles then walked up to him, clenched his right hand into a fist against his left chest, and bowed forty-five degrees.
"Helles will serve his master for the rest of his life!"
Chen Tian smiled cheerfully and waved his hand. "All right, all right. I'm not used to the customs from your side. Don't put on this servant act anymore."
Helles nodded.
Qing Wan stood behind the door, poking her head out to stare at them like a curious little kitten.
"Come inside with me," Chen Tian said.
When she saw the three of them approaching, Qing Wan hurriedly ran inside, as though she was especially afraid of the other two.
Chen Tian glanced at her and smiled, saying nothing.
"Tell me about it. I want to understand a few things, and I think you should know them well." Chen Tian sat on the sofa and asked.
Qing Wan crouched behind him, sticking out her little head to stare at the two of them.
"What does Master wish to know?" Yakelis asked.
"Master can ask us directly. We will tell you everything we know," Helles said.
Chen Tian scratched his cheek and said, "All right, then start by telling me where you Demon Gods came from."
Yakelis then spread an image before her. The image was extremely blurry.
"Does Master know that this universe is connected to the others?"
Chen Tian's curiosity instantly flared up. He drew up his legs and listened intently.
"We Seventy-Two Demon Gods came from the Purgatory Starfield of the Second Universe. That is the birthplace of our Demon Gods," Yakelis said.
"There are eight universes in existence, and you are in the Seventh Universe, Master. Every universe has a passage connecting it to the others."
"But not everyone can enter that passage. If one's strength is insufficient and one enters by force, the pressure within the passage will instantly tear one apart!"
At those words, Chen Tian sucked in a cold breath! The passage's power was absolutely monstrous! Otherwise, it could not have annihilated anyone who entered so effortlessly.
"I see. Then what was your purpose in coming here? Who were you looking for?" Chen Tian asked.
Helles looked at Qing Wan behind him and said, "We came here for only one purpose: to find her."
When Helles looked over, Qing Wan shrank her head back. After a while, she cautiously poked it out again.
Chen Tian froze. He looked at Qing Wan hiding behind him and frowned.
So she really is a walking trouble magnet! He was already regretting bringing her back. "Why do you want to take her away?" Chen Tian asked, getting to the heart of the matter.
"We do not know either," Yakelis explained. "This was an order given to us by the former Master. The reason is likely known only to the Master."
Chen Tian nodded. It seemed that sooner or later, he would have to face the Master they spoke of.
Yakelis hesitated for a moment before saying uncertainly, "Master, I remembered something. She seems to be connected to a great war from countless ages ago!"
"A great war?!" Chen Tian raised his brows.
Helles's pupils contracted. He looked at Yakelis. "You mean that war?!"
Yakelis looked at him with a resolute gaze and nodded.
"The person the Master ordered us to find—could she be a survivor of that great war?!" Helles pressed.
But Yakelis shook her head. "I cannot confirm whether that is the case. After all, we merely experienced that war; we did not participate in it."
"There are many details we cannot uncover."
Chen Tian looked at the two of them talking, utterly bewildered, his mind a blank.
"What exactly was that great war you're talking about?" Chen Tian asked. He wanted to know as well.
After all, everyone had curiosity in their hearts! Yakelis then explained the matter to him.
"That great war was a conflict between the various universes, sparked by a single person. Legend has it that this person did something utterly terrifying, provoking the gods of the various universes to take action!"
"However, since we were only at the True God level, we could not participate in a battle of that caliber—not even witness it. We could only make certain judgments based on what was passed down," Yakelis said.
Chen Tian listened, fascinated, but what did this have to do with Qing Wan?
He immediately asked, "What does this have to do with her?"
Yakelis continued, "Master, that person once led a group of exceptionally powerful allies into battle, and she..."
She pointed at Qing Wan. "She may be the descendant of one of that person's allies. That is why the Master sent us from the Second Universe to the Seventh Universe to find her."
"The Master you mentioned—what does he want to do after finding her?"
Helles thought for a moment, then said solemnly, "Perhaps he intends to uproot the weeds and eliminate the roots, eradicating any future trouble!"
"After all, what that person did was far beyond reason. To the Master, those who followed him may be a bomb waiting to explode."
Chen Tian fell deep in thought. He understood part of it now.
A powerful, mysterious god had led a group of equally powerful people in doing something they would never even dare imagine. As a result, they had enraged those people and were then hunted down by the very ones who sought to stop them.
That was probably the gist of what had happened.
Chen Tian nodded, very satisfied with his own answer.
"Master, I have some bad news to tell you." Helles spoke with an apologetic expression.
"Go ahead."
Helles paused for a moment before saying, "Master has completely annihilated the Seventy-Two Demon Gods, leaving only the two of us alive—and has controlled us."
"The Master can sense every one of these things."
Chen Tian smiled. "Are you saying that he'll be coming to make trouble for me in a moment?"
As soon as his voice fell, a blinding light suddenly erupted above the villa!
Yakelis and Helles's expressions changed drastically. They spoke in terror: "Master! It's—it's the Master! He's here!!"
