On this continent, extraordinary power belonged to those known as knights, and the ranks of knights were strictly divided.
Beginning with Apprentice Knights who condensed a Life Seed, the ranks were Apprentice Knight, Knight, Great Knight, Earth Knight, Sky Knight, and Saint Domain Knight.
Reaching Earth Knight already meant becoming one of the kingdom's strongest combatants. His father, Engel Dreyrosa, was an Earth Knight at the peak level.
Earth Knights were already like that; Sky Knights were even more the kingdom's supreme powers. Every Sky Knight could be called a true foundation of the kingdom, the very basis of whether the kingdom could endure. Thor had never expected that today's Daily Intelligence would reveal a Sky Knight—and it was the very person who would have unexpectedly obtained the Life Fruit yesterday.
From the intelligence, it was clear that because he had intercepted the Life Fruit that belonged to the other party, the other party's fate had shifted.
The trajectory that should have changed after swallowing the Life Fruit had returned to its original course.
"Maybe I can give it a try!"
Thor murmured to himself, a restless gleam appearing in his eyes.
He even had the urge to set off immediately.
But after giving it some thought, he ultimately suppressed the idea.
He summoned a servant to help him wash up.
The night passed.
As the morning sunlight spilled down,
Thor woke from his large bed.
That day, he did not train as usual. Having already become an Apprentice Knight, he no longer needed to train.
He glanced over the day's intelligence.
Then, accompanied by his three knights, he set off once again.
His destination was Lucerne Town.
An hour later, he arrived at Lucerne Town.
Faced with Young Master Thor's return, the Lucerne Town official could not help but feel uneasy as he stepped forward to greet him again.
"Official, I need to find a boy named Ryan. His father is named Hunter."
Thor spoke calmly from horseback.
"Yes, Young Master Thor. I will find him for you immediately!"
The official was somewhat puzzled, but he quickly nodded and hurried away.
About half an hour later,
the official returned with a document.
"Young Master Thor, Hunter lives in Fallen Leaf Village on the western side of town. Please follow me!"
The official spoke respectfully.
"Alright!"
Thor nodded, then urged his horse onward, following the official toward their destination.
At the same time,
Fallen Leaf Village.
Inside a dilapidated house.
Bang!
"Useless trash! You're useless trash! You can't even buy me wine!"
An enraged voice rang out, followed by the sound of something heavy crashing down.
Inside the room, a middle-aged man with a red, bulbous nose and a disheveled head of hair was berating someone. Before him, the boy from earlier was curled up in a corner, silent.
"Speak! Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Where's the wine?"
The middle-aged man continued to rage. The next moment, he grabbed a wine bottle and hurled it at the boy.
Bang!
Crash!
The bottle struck the boy's head and shattered instantly. The boy let out a muffled groan as the shards cut his scalp, crimson blood flowing down.
Yet even so, the middle-aged man showed no concern whatsoever.
"Trash! You're all trash! Ryan, let me tell you this: without me, you would have starved to death long ago!"
"Go! Get me some wine!"
The middle-aged man's voice rang out again, but the boy remained curled up in the corner.
That only made the man angrier and angrier.
"What, you don't want to go?"
"If you don't, I'll sell you off. I hear those noble lords love boys like you!"
"Hurry up!"
Before he had even finished speaking, he picked up another wine bottle and smashed it toward the boy.
But the bottle had only just left his hand.
Bang!
A flash of white light streaked past, and the wine bottle shattered in midair.
Then a low voice sounded.
"Stop!"
The middle-aged man froze for a moment, then became even more furious.
"Good, good!"
"You actually brought outsiders into our home! Ryan, it seems you really don't take me seriously!"
The man was about to grab another wine bottle.
But at that moment, an icy voice sounded again.
"I said stop. Didn't you hear me?"
The words were already filled with a chilling coldness.
Then several figures suddenly appeared in the cramped room.
Through his drunken haze, the burly man finally saw who had come. His drunkenness vanished at once.
Clang!
The wine bottle dropped to the floor, and he immediately threw himself face-down on the ground.
"My lord!"
The middle-aged man lay prostrate, his body trembling as boundless terror engulfed his heart.
But Thor clearly did not care about any of that.
He walked straight past the man and approached the corner.
"Are you alright?"
His voice was gentle.
The boy abruptly raised his head, but quickly came to his senses and hurriedly tried to kneel.
However, prolonged hunger and the beating he had just endured made him stagger and fall straight toward the ground.
Startled, Thor quickly caught him.
He immediately examined the boy.
Life Source Power circulated through him, and Thor let out a sigh of relief. The boy was not in any danger; he had merely fainted.
He handed the boy to a knight beside him.
Thor pondered briefly before speaking to another knight.
"Give him one gold coin. From now on, Ryan will have nothing to do with him."
Thor spoke calmly.
"Yes!"
The knight beside him nodded, swiftly took out a gold coin, and tossed it onto the ground.
"My lord, it is Ryan's fortune to be able to follow you!"
"Rest assured, my lord. I will never contact Ryan again!"
Seeing the gleaming gold coin on the floor, the middle-aged man crawled and scrambled over, hastily pocketing it as he repeatedly expressed his gratitude.
Thor ignored him.
There was no need to spare someone like that any attention.
Giving him one gold coin was only for the boy's sake.
And that was all.
Thor quickly left with the boy.
Meanwhile, the middle-aged man continued staring at the gold coin with shining eyes. He even wiped it clean and bit it, unable to conceal the joy on his face.
But clearly, he still had no idea what he had lost.
That was a Sky Knight, an existence destined to stand at the pinnacle of the kingdom.
Of course, he could never have imagined that the son he had always despised would become a Sky Knight in the future.
To him now, trading away such a burdensome presence for one gold coin was already an incredible bargain.
His original plan had only been to exchange the boy for a little wine money. He would have been satisfied with two or three silver coins from those noble lords; he had never even dared dream of a gold coin.
