King Noon VII summons Maerke and his granddaughter, Alex Walton, to the Hall of Heroes. He reveals that Alex will marry Tales Starcrest, the Prince of Starfall, to forge an alliance between their families. Alex is displeased with this arrangement, but Maerke assures the King that he will be loyal to both Alex and Tales.
