Haer flew down onto the top of the Mobile Fortress, landing in front of a door. Using magic, he opened it, staggered into the room, and collapsed heavily onto his bed.
He let out a long, forceful breath.
His injuries this time were quite serious.
He would need to recuperate for a while before he could recover.
He had thought that if things continued like this, he might completely transform into a monster once he lost all strength. By then, he would lose his mind and no longer even recognize himself. That would be the end of everything.
He did not want things to continue this way, but he could not find a good solution either.
Just as he was at a loss, the war between the two countries abruptly ended.
This left him utterly baffled, but it also allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief. The heart he had held taut finally relaxed.
He no longer needed to worry about the war between the two countries. He could rest properly for a while. Hopefully, after this period passed, some of the demonic power in his body would dissipate.
Tap, tap, tap!
Hurried footsteps sounded outside the door.
Hearing those footsteps, Haer knew Sophie had arrived.
He forced himself to sit up, doing his best to maintain his poise and elegance without losing his dignity.
He was a man who cared deeply about his image and would never allow his disheveled, ugly side to be revealed before the world.
Click!
The door opened.
Haer composed himself and looked over. As expected, it was Sophie.
However...
Had Sophie become younger again?
Wonderful!
This was the beautiful young Sophie he remembered, the Sophie he knew!
But...
A smile had just appeared on Haer's face when it stiffened, soon overwhelmed by shock.
