Five years ago, after magicians from Ash Holy Tower rescued him from the hands of Black Magicians, the little fellow had come to Ash Holy Tower to study magic.
Oh, right—Cohen was not the only lucky one to be rescued.
At the time, an entire shipload of apprentices had been freed alongside him and sent to Ash Holy Tower, more than two hundred in total.
Over his five years of study at Ash Holy Tower, Cohen had come to understand what kind of place he had arrived in. He had also learned what kind of place the Land of Ashes had once been—the "Davier Region."

Cohen was fortunate, and he was also deeply grateful to Ash Holy Tower.
For his five years of study, along with the many things he had encountered in his daily learning, had shown him just how miserable the fate of those little fellows who had fallen into the hands of Black Magicians would have been if Ash Holy Tower had not rescued them back then.
Cohen was not alone in thinking this way. The vast majority of Ash Holy Tower's apprentices carried gratitude toward their Holy Tower, as well as a powerful sense of belonging.
Among the Apprentice Missions issued by Ash Holy Tower, the most numerous trial missions involved scouting out "Black Magicians" and clearing out Dark Beings within the Land of Ashes.
Naturally, the targets assigned to apprentices could not be overly powerful.
Those so-called "Black Magicians" were, for the most part, merely apprentice-level Black Magicians.
Yet even so, those vicious and exceptionally ruthless Black Magicians had inflicted enormous losses upon Ash Holy Tower's little fellows.
