It was as if the whole world had, in an instant, turned into a bloody maw, folding shut around him.

Mist Spider shrieked in terror, flickered, and vanished into nothingness, trying to re-form from another direction. But the instant the jaws closed, as though tugged by gravity, he was abruptly and bizarrely pulled back into the beast's mouth.

Then came another crisp crunch. Two legs had already disappeared into the belly of the End Beast. After that, a dim exhalation surged forth like flame, enveloping the convulsing giant spider and searing deep into its marrow.

A dazzling torch was lit within the mist.

The meteors falling from the Sky Dome crashed into the ground, piercing the crust and raising wave after wave of air. More of them, however, embedded themselves deep within the enormous shell of the End Beast.

Yet behind that shattered shell, even more darkness erupted and surged, dissolving and devouring the destruction that had delivered itself to its doorstep, turning it into its own strength.

Temperance's black flames set it alight, yet within that eternal curse of burning flesh, it let out a satisfied moan.

As relaxed and delighted as if it were bathing.

It merely raised a foreclaw and smashed it down, pinning the colossal body that resembled a rotten giant fish to the ground. Then it opened its mouth and feasted without restraint.

The giant fish struggled and pleaded desperately for help.

The starlit giant bird above the Sky Dome roared and swooped down.

But during that pause in its meal, Bahamut suddenly raised its head and spewed another dim tide from its mouth toward the sky.

The breath of destruction rushed forth, and a shrill scream rose from the flames.
