Linsey immediately followed Dan's retreating figure.
But before he had taken more than a few steps, the Female Hunter turned back and pressed a hand to Linsey's shoulder, staring seriously and firmly into his eyes. "Linsey, listen to me. Go tell Anrui first."
"Look at yourself. You're really not fit to investigate outside anymore. And I promise you, I'll be back soon—within an hour at most!"

Linsey instinctively wanted to argue.
But at that moment, Dan lifted the hand Linsey was using to grip the Ice Badger.
The veins on that hand bulged, and his knuckles had gone white from the force. Linsey had only taken out the Ice Badger moments ago, yet the spot where he held it had already twisted out of shape, its hide nearly crushed to pieces.

Linsey realized Dan was right.
Finn's death and the subsequent reanimation of his corpse had both affected him deeply.
He had not noticed it while chasing the Ice Badger through the forest.
But now, he truly needed to calm himself. That applied both to the anger in his heart and to his thoughts about the mastermind behind it all.

Linsey nodded to the Female Hunter, and the two parted ways at the church entrance.
Following the information Linsey had given her, Dan's figure quickly vanished into the pitch-black night. Meanwhile, Linsey ran toward the north side of town. Along the way, he did not think about anything for the moment, instead keeping his breathing steady and rhythmic.

"Linsey, why did you come over so late?"
