For all types of Awakened, the Fifth Stage was crucial.
They awakened the most vital and fundamental powerful ability of their own path. That was why they were known as Ascendants at this level.
Messengers were no exception.
At the Fifth Stage, they did not gain combat techniques suited for attacking enemies or defending against attacks, nor did they gain skills for enhancing knowledge or refining their craft.
What they awakened was a sensory ability known as Dialogue with Nature.
This technique allowed Messengers to communicate, to a certain extent, with mountains, rivers, vegetation, earth, stone, air, and other things. It was also the key to their ability, upon advancing to the Sixth Stage, to use true words to control the entire Real World.
Now that Eris, as a Messenger, had made such a suggestion, Linsey naturally had to consider the possibility behind his words.
Linsey looked at the Law Knight.
"Was there anything unusual about the village you found?"
This time, the Law Knight looked somewhat lost. He shook his head.
"I'm sorry, but I don't know."
"We found it only because we were conducting a routine inspection of the massacre site. Then we followed the clues, hoping to capture the murderer."
Linsey turned his gaze toward the refugees inside the Vines cage.
These people still glared viciously at the Law Knight. The good news, however, was that they understood that Linsey's group of three were the ones in control of everything right now.
So when he turned toward them with a questioning look, some of them took the initiative to answer.
"My lord, we truly don't know what village they're talking about. If you don't believe us, you can test us with any technique you like! We... we're just ordinary people trying to protect our lives."
Linsey said
