Malfurion had been deeply disheartened lately, even lost and listless.
The reason was simple: his beloved Tyrande had been captured during a battle by the Grand Steward Sargoth and taken prisoner by Queen Azshara.
That accursed Sargoth had completely lost all trace of his Night Elf features; he and the other elves twisted and corrupted by Fel energy were now called Satyr demons.
But strangely enough, word had it that Sargoth died mysteriously not long after returning, and the killer was surely some mysterious figure in Eldorei.
Illidan, playing the role of the Burning Legion's loyal servant in the capital Eldorei, felt a sharp satisfaction at this.
Yes, he had secretly lured Sargoth out and then killed the Grand Steward.
That damned demon dared to harm Tyrande—he had to die!
But for now, he had no way to rescue Tyrande or even see her. He could only hope the queen's palace prison was comfortable enough.
Yet all the worries of the Stormrage brothers were entirely unnecessary. Tyrande was in no danger at all; she spent her days eating and sleeping, living a rather pleasant little life.
The radiance of Elune formed a spherical barrier around her body. No matter how the demons roared and pounded, no matter how the Highborne mages tried to break it, the barrier remained utterly unmoved, in a state of absolute invincibility.
Gradually, everyone lost interest in this Priestess of the Moon prisoner. They stopped bothering with her, stopped sending food and drink, and left her to rot in the dungeon.
But Tyrande didn't starve or die of thirst, because she received secret aid.
Dath'Remar Sunstrider secretly provided Tyrande with the necessary food and water. After working hard to convince Tyrande that he truly meant no harm, the Priestess of the Moon began urging Dath'Remar to stop helping the queen stabilize the Fel Portal.
To this, Dath'Remar could only offer a bitter smile.
"It's not as simple as you think, honored Priestess. Even without the Highborne mages now, the portal's progress won't be affected. The demon mages will take over everything immediately. If we keep handling the portal's stabilization, we can secretly slow things down and buy time for the Resistance Army."
When he learned that the Highborne of Suramar City had joined the Rebel Alliance and that their ruler had become an avatar of the divine, Dath'Remar let out a huge sigh of relief.
"When the Alliance storms Eldorei, I'll create a chance for you to escape. This is for our own sake too. I hope our people can forgive the sins of us court mages..."
To that, Tyrande could only remain silent.
The court mages of Eldorei were already seen by the elves as traitors aiding the demons. Gaining forgiveness would be incredibly difficult.

The Resistance Army's offensive continued.
With the addition of various foreign races, the Alliance accelerated their advance toward the capital Eldorei.
One major event boosted the soldiers' morale: the Wild Demigods officially joined.
Jarod Shadowsong, with his utterly sincere and earnest attitude, moved the hesitant Wild Demigods. With the Forest Demigod Cenarius's persuasion, these primordial beings finally entered the fight.
"The primal forces of Azeroth are at your command from this moment, Commander Jarod. Do not disappoint us, do not disappoint your people, and do not disappoint this world."
Cenarius, at the head, spoke to Jarod before him. Behind him stood a silent group of colossal beings in various forms.
The Burning Legion soon suffered heavy losses. Their lines were rapidly shrinking and collapsing, and the capital Eldorei drew ever closer.
Every Wild Demigod fought for Azeroth, even at the cost of their immortal eternal lives.
The Boar Demigod Agamaggan was surrounded by thorny vines. His incredibly sharp and piercing tusks could impale any demon's body.
This massive boar rampaged across the battlefield. Demons ahead were either pierced by his tusks or crushed into pulp.
In the end, elves found Agamaggan's battered corpse beneath a mountain of piled bodies. His tusks were thickly studded with countless demons.
The Bear Demigod brothers, Ursol and Urson, led the Bearman tribe in a bloody frontal battle against the Burning Legion with unmatched courage.
They faced a sky-darkening army of Doom Guards and a flood of Infernals.
Ursol unleashed a wide-ranging chain of lightning. Struck Doom Guards convulsed violently and fell to the ground, where they then faced Urson's unstoppable claws and strength enough to shake mountains.
The earth itself was the two bear brothers' defense line. Massive rocks rose with a rumble, forming a solid wall that trapped the demon army.
They fought to the very last moment, finally both falling upon the beloved thick earth, taking the Burning Legion's main Doom Guard force with them.
The Mother of Avians, Aviana, circled in the air, letting out piercing shrieks. Countless Moonfires and Sunfires rained down like divine punishment, striking demon soldiers on the ground with precision.
She and her various birds of prey fought to the last as well, wiping out the Eredar demon forces on the Burning Legion's rear lines for the Resistance Army.
This Mother of Avians also contributed her knowledge and legacy to the Druids, enabling them to transform into the massive flying raptor, the Stormcrow.
At her death, the Mother Tree G'hanir withered as well. This towering tree reached the end of its life.
But death also meant rebirth. The Night Elf Druids preserved a batch of seeds from the Mother Tree G'hanir, planning to plant them in a new suitable location later, to grow a new World Tree.
At the same time, the Druids received the Mother of Avians' final gift: a staff named "G'hanir, Mother Tree."
This staff, made from a branch of the Mother Tree G'hanir, possessed incredibly powerful healing abilities. The Druids used it to heal countless wounded Alliance soldiers.
Tortolla, the Turtle Demigod, naturally averse to war and extremely gentle, showed his undeniable power for the first time.
When the unstoppable demon army rolled through the elven defenders' lines, they had no idea how to deal with the giant turtle Tortolla.
At first, the demons tried to ignore him, but his terrifying weight and crushing jaws turned the demon army into corpses one by one.
Tortolla never fell.
In the end, the Burning Legion sent their elite Heavenly Punishment Guards to surround him, but they couldn't pierce his rock-like skin and invincible shell.
Oh, you can imagine how furious and helpless the demons were, forced to watch Tortolla advance slowly, propping up the Resistance Army's stable push on the front lines.
After the battle, the elves found Tortolla beneath a mountain of demon corpses.
He shook himself, tossing off the bodies, poked his head out of his shell, and then, quietly, slowly... he asked, "Did we win?"
He was one of only two surviving Wild Demigods, enduring the legendary War of the Ancients alongside the Forest Demigod Cenarius, earning the highest respect from all races of the Alliance.
But then, the most heartbreaking and infuriating loss struck the elven Alliance.
