The Shattering of the Continent and the High Elves

The largest-scale desperate mass exodus in Azeroth's history had begun.

Every race and living being, everyone was fleeing for their lives.

The earth was shattering, the continents were being torn apart. The Well of Eternity had now become a colossal maelstrom, its vast energies churning the Endless Sea, spawning tidal waves that grew ever more massive with each surge.

The sky was pitch-black. The capital Eldorei was now completely submerged, a scene of apocalyptic devastation as tsunamis mixed with tornadoes and hurricanes spread in all directions.

The commando members sat on the dragon's back, watching it all with sorrow from the sky.

Everything they knew, the old homeland they cherished, was rapidly slipping away from them.

But their thoughts were soon interrupted by a violent roar. They looked up ahead—a massive city was slowly rising from the distant earthquake, lifting into the sky.

A hemispherical purple Arcane energy shield reflected the sunlight, and within the city, towering mage spires could be faintly seen. This colossal floating city was strikingly conspicuous and awe-inspiring.

"Suramar... it's floating..."

They stared blankly at this stronghold of the Highborne.

Elisande, Krasus, and Rhonin had known about this beforehand, but they were still deeply shaken.

"Alright, everyone, let's rest in Suramar City first, then meet up with the Resistance Army. They'll probably still be running for a while." Boss Hu said with a smile.

In Suramar, an eerily silent banquet was held in a small plaza on the city's edge.

Everyone leaned against the city's railing, watching the land below still shattering and tearing apart, saying nothing.

The Kalimdor Continent had split into several pieces. From this height, it was clearly visible that these fragments, driven by the Maelstrom's energy diffusion and massive tsunamis, were slowly drifting in all four directions.

The familiar interior of Kalimdor was now drifting westward.

The other half of Kalimdor was moving eastward, growing more distant.

"That's the original Eastern Kingdoms... Gods, I wish I had an Image Crystal to record this. I could make a killing selling it back in Dalaran." Rhonin stared at the continent drifting east.

Krasus watched another landmass recede with sorrow.

That was Northrend, now drifting toward the far north, soon to be covered in ice.

"What's that? It's disappearing!" Malfurion pointed at a small landmass.

Pandaria, completely shrouded in mist, was drifting aimlessly across the Endless Sea, gradually vanishing from sight.

The mists protected the Pandaren's land, but also isolated them from the world.

But most elves' eyes were fixed on the shattered archipelago.

The land not far from Eldorei was now broken and ravaged into a vast chain of islands, drifting south across the Endless Sea.

"We lost Black Rook Hold in Val'sharah... lost the Farondis Court Academy in Azsuna... and lost Highmountain... wait, that's the Tauren's loss."

Clearly, the Tauren who had come to fight under Hu En*Highmountain would never return to their homeland. They needed to find a new home to settle.

Suramar City slowly continued sailing westward toward the Kalimdor Continent.

According to communication crystals, the Night Elf Resistance Army had already fled the area affected by the Great Sundering and was now camped in a remote region called Ashenvale. After a full rest, they planned to head to nearby Mount Hyjal, whose high terrain would protect them from any renewed tsunamis.

The former command post, Black Rook Hold, was now destroyed, drifting with the broken continent to the unknown Southern Seas. The elves had to find a suitable place to rebuild their home.

Footsteps came from behind Hu Feng. Dath'Remar Sunstrider walked over slowly, then bowed solemnly.

"First meeting after so long. My respects to you, Titan Divine Lord. I knew the great God of Magic would not abandon his faithful followers."

Hu Feng turned, looked at Dath'Remar for a moment, then smiled.

"I'm guessing you didn't come just to meet me. Let me guess... you think I've fully taken control of Suramar City, so the once-dominant Sunstrider family is now in an awkward position, right?"

Dath'Remar smiled too, then nodded.

"Correct, Divine Lord. But please don't misunderstand. I came to say that you saved Suramar, restored the Highborne's image among our people, and I believe Suramar will thrive under your rule."

He paused, showing a helpless expression.

"The Highborne of Suramar fought alongside the Rebel Army, so they are heroes worthy of respect and remembrance... As for us, the Night Elf people likely won't accept us court mages anymore. So I've decided to take my family and leave Kalimdor, cross the Endless Sea, and find our own new home on the other continent."

Hu Feng looked at Dath'Remar in surprise.

"Do you realize this is self-exile? That continent across the ocean is now a completely new and unknown place. You might all die there."

Dath'Remar nodded firmly. "Rather than be constrained and suspected, we'd rather take the gamble."

Hu Feng said no more, nodding lightly.

"Then, blessings upon you. As long as you still believe in me, still remember the bond of elven kin, we will lend a hand in times of peril."

Soon, a fleet temporarily built by Arcane Golems was deployed into the sea below Suramar City. Dath'Remar led the Sunstrider family and all the court mages aboard, setting sail toward the now-distant Eastern Kingdoms.

Krasus and Rhonin were no longer surprised by the Sunstrider family's early departure.

The Divine Lord had already changed so many fates; one more was nothing unusual.

The Sunstriders would endure hardships, face countless trials, and press forward for the new home in their hearts.

During the voyage, Dath'Remar gave their voluntary exiles a new name. The old title of Highborne was behind them, Suramar's glory was a memory, and the power and status in the Queen's court were no longer theirs.

Now, they were steadfast voluntary exiles.

They were High Elves.
