Ten thousand years ago, just after the War of the Ancients concluded.
The Night Elves now possessed two World Trees, and they claimed all the land between these two colossal trees as their territory.
The World Tree Nordrassil in the Mount Hyjal region had become a sacred site for the Druids. They gathered there, utilizing Nordrassil's connection to the Emerald Dream to practice and cultivate the Dreamer's Path. Towns and villages gradually sprang up on Mount Hyjal, fostering a thriving population.
Concurrently, they were developing the adjacent Moonlight Grove. This valley, surrounded by mountains, featured a beautiful small lake at its center. The elven Druids planned to construct a grand natural library there, along with various burrows for habitation and hibernation.
On the other end of their territory, the World Tree Teldrassil was also undergoing rapid development.
The new capital, the great city of Darnassus, had been built with the assistance of numerous Arcane Golems provided by the Highborne. Additionally, over a dozen towns and villages dotted the plateau atop Teldrassil.
This land was dominated by dense forests, offering a serene and peaceful environment. Approximately sixty percent of the Night Elf populace chose to reside here, while the remaining Night Elves expanded and colonized Darkshore, Ashenvale, and Felwood Forest.
Having endured that incredibly brutal and epic war, the vast majority of elves now yearned for a quiet, peaceful life. They were utterly weary of conflict.
The sky city of Suramar continued to float in the heavens, slowly orbiting the World Tree Teldrassil along its new trajectory, serving as a massive satellite city comparable in scale to the capital.
The Highborne were unwilling to live alongside their Night Elf brethren and did not want their magical studies to be disturbed. Therefore, they opted to continue residing in Suramar, maintaining a respectful distance and coexisting peacefully.
Of course, some Highborne mages also chose to return to the continent. They found secluded, tranquil areas to establish their personal mage towers and recruited promising apprentices from among the common Night Elves.
The Night Elves were largely indifferent to these reclusive Highborne. Seeing as they were no longer causing trouble and had even assisted in the grand reconstruction efforts, the Night Elves let them be, content to let them continue their spell research within their "otaku happy towers."
Aside from the Divine Lord Sarodar, who completely abstained from governance, the only one capable of keeping the Highborne in check was Archmage Elisande. Thus, the burden fell upon her to manage them, ensuring they didn't engage in any dangerous magical experiments.
The Night Elves' four-power co-governance was relatively harmonious. Jarod Shadowsong, the General Commander of the resistance coalition, focused his efforts on the daily training of the Night Elf regular forces after the advent of peace. He rarely involved himself in politics, recognizing his own limitations and understanding that he was not suited for political affairs.
Archdruid Malfurion was even more disinclined to involvement. As a favored disciple of the forest demigod Cenarius, he journeyed to a burrow in Ashenvale, where he underwent further training from Cenarius: sleeping.
That's right, sleeping and daydreaming, his spirit frequently entering the Emerald Dream to frolic with his fellow Druids.
This left only the Priestess of the Moon Tyrande and Archmage Elisande, two formidable women, as the ruling figures of the Night Elves.
Elisande, already overwhelmed with managing Suramar and the esteemed Highborne mages, had no time to attend to the vast territories of the Night Elves.
Tyrande, a novice in her first term, was initially quite inexperienced. However, with the guidance of her Highborne advisors, the Priestess was rapidly maturing and handling various domestic affairs with admirable order.
While the Night Elves' current territory was far from the glory of the Well of Eternity era, its scale was no longer insignificant.
Stretching from Darkshore and Winterspring Valley in the north to the Wailing Caverns and Azshara region in the south, they occupied half the continent.
In this era, there were few other intelligent races. Thus, the Night Elves needed only to plant their flag to claim these lands as their ancestral domain, with no one to contest their claim.
As for the various Bearman tribes within their territory, despite their considerable intelligence and reverence for shamanistic beliefs, they had never managed to form a unified entity. The tribes were constantly at odds, engaged in perpetual conflict.
This period of fragmentation began after the Bear Demigods Ursol and Urson fell in battle.
However, the majority of Bearman clans were quite friendly towards the Night Elves, considering their past alliance as comrades-in-arms. The elves, in turn, allowed them to live and prosper within their lands.
As for the Tauren, they were reportedly not faring well in the Wailing Caverns, their relationship with the Centaur being highly tense, on the brink of open conflict.
This was not due to the Tauren, whose honest and straightforward nature prevented them from initiating conflict, let alone war.
It was simply because the Centaur, inherently brutal and warlike, harbored a hostile attitude towards the Tauren who settled in their lands.
Heaven bore witness that the Tauren had not encroached upon the Centaur's interests in the region; the most fertile grasslands were all under Centaur control.
Further south, the continent became a no-man's-land, a region few were willing to venture into at present.
The Night Elves had no immediate plans for further expansion. They were busy consolidating their existing lands and fully colonizing them first.
Oh, right, and there were still remnant Satyr demons scattered throughout various regions that the Night Elves needed to deal with.
These former kin, infused with fel energy, were technically indigenous creatures. They were not forcibly drawn away by the fel portals of the Well of Eternity. Therefore, after the Burning Legion's defeat, they began to hide and evade capture and judgment by elven forces.
The elves had another major undertaking, or rather, the Highborne had another major undertaking.
Adjacent to the World Tree Teldrassil, a silver, sky-piercing tower was under construction.
This tower, entirely silver and tapering to a sharp point as it ascended, plunged into the seabed, standing like a colossal needle anchoring the sea.
The Tower of Slumber, Divine Lord Sarodar's private entertainment and leisure resort, was opening. Beautiful elven dealers would be dealing cards online... ahem, a private tower.
Only the most devout followers of the Eye of Truth could enter the tower and secure their place within.
This would serve as a vast, specialized military camp and a secret laboratory, where Boss Hu's clandestine and unsavory secret plans and operations would be carried out.
The Night Elves naturally gave their full endorsement.
As long as this Titan didn't leave, even if he wanted a palace comparable to Queen Azshara's, the elves would readily build it for him.
Time continued to flow, and the Night Elves' new era of peace and tranquility began anew.
