Organization

The Demon Slayer Division operates through provincial branches and a higher-level headquarters in the Royal City. Provincial branches coordinate demon-slaying efforts in their territories, while headquarters determines branch personnel and facilities and possesses considerably stronger overall martial strength 15 48.

The Pei Province branch has eight halls. Its General and eight Hall Masters previously constituted nine Mystic Realm martial artists, but the demon side fielded twelve Demon Emperors before the arrival of another New Demon Emperor threatened that balance 36.

Mission Hall

The Mission Hall is the Division’s least regulated branch. It is effectively a communal mission-picking area rather than a tightly structured hall, with few assessments or rules; other halls derisively call it a “retirement home” for members who retain Division status without regular work 24.

Despite its lax structure, the hall provides access to high-risk assignments, including missions against Profound Realm Demon Kings. Members may also receive recording Jade Tokens that log demon kills and approximate realms, allowing Contribution Points to be awarded without accepting fixed targets 25 36.

Membership and Resources

• Members wear standard Division warrior uniforms and carry identity Jade Tokens identifying their hall affiliation. 25
• The Division uses Contribution Points to exchange for weapons, elixirs, storage rings, and martial arts from its Armory and Technique Tower. 24 25 41
• The Pei Province branch maintains an Elixir Workshop, Herb Pavilion, Technique Tower, Armory, and Sutra Repository. Its available techniques include Apex Realm and Profound Realm arts. 22 24
• Inspectors are Patrol Hall personnel. The minimum stated qualification for an Inspector is Apex Realm seventh layer, though Profound Realm Inspectors may be dispatched through areas with Demon King activity. 9
• The Division’s conventional cultivation and martial arts emphasize physical offense and defense. This leaves it poorly prepared for strange demonic arts and soul-targeting methods. 27
• Buddhist martial arts can fill part of that weakness: Li Xuanxiao’s techniques detect demonic energy, purge it, and heal allies when conventional treatment is insufficient. 28

History

The Division routinely dispatches Inspectors to subordinate cities, including border regions such as Ning'an City. Its arrival is treated as a major deterrent to ordinary demons, and local constables fear its authority to investigate crimes involving court officials 9.

After Li Xuanxiao destroyed the demon-colluding Pure Land Temple, Law Enforcement Hall Master Liu Gelin waived his punishment, awarded him a merit, and invited him to join the organization. Li later entered the Mission Hall, selecting it for the freedom to pursue demon-slaying work independently 23 24 25.

As demonic activity escalated in Pei Province, the Patrol Hall investigated the deaths of ten Inspectors whose souls had been attacked by unknown demonic arts. The incident exposed the Division’s lack of effective magical countermeasures and its shortage of martial artists strong enough to confront such threats safely 27 28.

The warning of a New Demon Emperor’s descent intensified the crisis. The Pei Province branch prepared its eight halls for a potential collapse in the balance between its nine Mystic Realm martial artists and twelve known Demon Emperors 33 36.

The anticipated assault followed: more than a dozen Demon Emperors attacked the Pei Province Demon Slayer Division. Six of its eight Hall Masters were killed, including Liu Gelin and the Patrol Hall Master; General Si Yiwu lost an arm and disappeared while pursued by Demon Emperors. The branch’s personnel deployment, logistics, and intelligence network were left nearly paralyzed 45 47 48.

Li Xuanxiao subsequently traveled to the Royal City headquarters to request aid. Hall Master Si Bingwen arranged for Si family martial artists to search for Si Yiwu, but warned that reconstructing Pei Province would require support from other halls because headquarters is divided by competing factions and interests 48 49.
