"A conspiracy?" Qiao Sang froze.
"That's right," Mikala said. "According to the records, the Void Dragon is completely extinct. A Pet Beast egg carrying its bloodline would be extremely valuable for research. There's almost no chance it would be given to a contestant as a prize, especially when you were only competing in a Regional Tournament."
"Could the organizers have been unaware that the Little Ting Dragon egg carried the Void Dragon's bloodline?" Qiao Sang guessed. "When people test a Pet Beast egg's bloodline, they usually only measure how much of its own species' bloodline it contains."
That was how it had been when Ting Bao was tested. They had only measured the concentration of Little Ting Dragon bloodline in him. No one had checked what the other thirteen percent was.
After hearing her out, Mikala considered it. "It's possible... But something still feels off. A Pet Beast carrying the Void Dragon's bloodline shouldn't have been allowed to circulate as a prize so easily."
"If it was a conspiracy, what would the person behind it gain by giving the egg to a contestant?" Qiao Sang asked.
She couldn't see what sort of scheme involved handing someone else a Pet Beast with an extinct species' bloodline. To get the most out of it, they should have kept it for research, or waited for it to hatch so they or someone close to them could form a contract with it and study it.
Besides, the Central Hollow Region Tournament was run by the authorities. By then, she had already contracted Qing Bao, which the Central Region authorities almost certainly knew. She had joined the National Beast Taming Bureau, too. With a future so bright it could keep people up at night, why would the authorities want to harm her?
