In this era, contracting a pet beast didn't mean you could simply bring it home and raise it without a care. First, you had to register it. Otherwise, it would be considered unregistered.

Wild Extraordinary Creatures were forbidden from entering human residential cities. If an unregistered pet beast was discovered, it would be treated as a wild Extraordinary Creature and taken away by the Patrol Department.

Wild Extraordinary Creatures attacking humans was nothing unusual. On the contrary, the news reported similar incidents of humans being attacked by Extraordinary Creatures every few days.

Qiao Sang lowered her head to check the number in her hand. Number 06557. Then she checked the time. It was 11:52.

Looks like it wouldn't be her turn this morning.

"Number 06557, please proceed to Window 12."

It seemed that number 06556 hadn't come over, so they called Qiao Sang's number directly.

Qiao Sang sprang to her feet with the Fire Fang Dog in her arms. It seemed her luck was pretty good today.

At Window 12 sat a young man with a crew cut.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

Qiao Sang took out her Information Card from her pocket and handed it over. "I'm here to register a pet beast."

The crew-cut young man took the Information Card and placed it on the scanner. After looking at it for a moment, he said, "Hello, it shows here that you aren't a Beast Tamer yet, so you can't register a pet beast."

Qiao Sang froze for a moment. "Then register me as a Beast Tamer first."

The young man said, "Please provide your Brain Domain Certificate."

It was Qiao Sang's first time registering as a Beast Tamer, so she hadn't known she needed a Brain Domain Certificate.

"I didn't bring it," Qiao Sang said helplessly.

Then she raised the Fire Fang Dog in her arms. "Can't this prove that I'm a Beast Tamer?"

The crew-cut young man silently glanced at the time on his computer. It was 11:58. He replied, "No."

"Why not?" Qiao Sang asked, confused.

"Are you done yet? If you didn't bring everything, hurry up and make room." An impatient female voice came from behind her.

Qiao Sang turned around and saw a girl in the uniform of Xiehe Pet Beast High School standing behind her.

The girl glanced at Qiao Sang. She had narrow, upturned eyes that made people uncomfortable whenever she looked down at them.

Seeing that Qiao Sang said nothing, the girl stepped past her and handed over the number slip in her hand. "I'm number 06556. I was ahead of her, so handle mine first. I need to change some pet beast information."

Qiao Sang frowned and rose to give up her spot. Although the girl's attitude was irritating, Qiao Sang really didn't have all the necessary documents.

The crew-cut young man refused the girl. "If you miss your number, you have to queue again."

Then he returned Qiao Sang's Information Card. "Beast Tamers need to provide proof and have their photo taken for registration."

It was exactly noon. The crew-cut young man turned the sign at the counter around and smiled. "We're off work now. You can come back this afternoon." With that, he left his station.

Neither of them had gotten their business done. Qiao Sang didn't really mind, since she had only thought of coming here because it was on the way.

But the girl in the high school uniform pulled a long face. "It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, I would've gotten it done."

Qiao Sang stood and left.

A hand blocked her. "Hey, didn't you hear me talking to you?"

Qiao Sang looked utterly confused. She looked around and asked, "Were you talking to me?"

"Is there anyone else here?" The girl's upturned eyes widened.

Passerby A and Passerby B silently walked past them.
