On the roof of a hospital somewhere in the city, a black shadow flashed past.
It was deep into the night, and the hospital wards were utterly silent.
In a ward lit by a faint glow, a cold breeze swept through, and a black shadow appeared beside the bed.
As if he had been targeted by some enormous beast, Alger suddenly woke from his sleep.
He abruptly opened his eyes and sat up with a jerk.
When he spotted the man at the foot of the bed, his heart lurched, and he immediately tried to climb out of bed.
However, an invisible force pinned him down so tightly that he could not get up at all.
"Wh... who are you?" Alger's back turned cold, and terror filled his eyes.
Kaitles stared at him coldly. "Who I am isn't important. What matters is that you're going to die."
Sensing the strength of the person before him, Alger stammered:
"Wolves and vampires signed an agreement a thousand years ago. We were not to invade each other's territory and were to coexist peacefully, so... so you can't kill me."
"I never signed it."
Kaitles had not expected anything like this to have happened a thousand years ago.
At the time, he seemed to have gone to the East, after which he fell into a deep sleep.
Alger's face was pale, but he pretended to remain calm. "It was signed by one of your vampire elders. You have to obey his orders, or he won't let you off."
