"Wow, there's even such a huge balcony, with flowers planted on it! And you can see so far from here—even the large garden behind Xianle Mansion is visible. This is really wonderful."
Yingzi was so delighted that she danced for joy. One moment, she rushed over to touch the sofa covered with a long blanket; the next, she ran into the bedroom to look at the spacious bed and the huge wardrobe that occupied an entire wall. Then she flew out like a butterfly and ran to the living room balcony, gripping the railing as she gazed into the distance.
Though Nanny Wu remained fairly calm, she couldn't help smiling when she saw that all the furniture inside was the finest European style and that the floor was covered with carpets.
"Yingzi, stop making such a fuss. Hurry and help Miss put her things away, then go cook. Miss must be hungry by now."
"All right!" Yingzi turned and dashed toward the kitchen.
When she reached the doorway, she suddenly stopped, then turned around and gazed expectantly at Su Qiao, who was sitting on the sofa drinking tea.
"Miss, can I go with you tonight? I heard the songs you sing are incredibly beautiful. I really want to go and listen."
Su Qiao held her teacup in both hands, the corners of her lips lifting into a gentle, kindly smile. "If you want to go, then go."
Yingzi's eyes lit up. She immediately jumped so high that she was practically about to hug Su Qiao and kiss her several times.
"Thank you, Miss! You're simply the best! I'll go cook right now. I'll make extra today and give you a proper celebration."
Su Qiao only smiled without answering. Something seemed to flicker briefly in her lifeless phoenix eyes.
