To speed up the march, Ye Ying and Moxin discussed the matter and finally decided to have the craftsmen from the Han Tribe walk alongside the convoy.
Instead, they had some of the elderly, women, and children in Youqiao Clan's migrating group squeeze into the carts.
There were four carts in all. One was specifically used to transport the palace's Sand Table model, two were used to carry people, and the last was loaded with grain, firewood, and cooking utensils. Now, however, apart from the cart carrying the model, every other cart was crammed full of people. The last cart, especially, had originally been used for grain and cooking implements. Although the grain remained untouched, all the pots had been taken down and handed to a few "pot-bearers" to carry on their backs, freeing up more space for passengers.
The entire group reorganized itself and rested for a while. Basically, all the children who could not walk quickly were put into the carts, along with some of the weaker women. Most of the men, even their Elder, continued walking.
On the Han Tribe's side, the craftsmen also followed beside the carts. Although they were no longer riding, they remained important people under protection.
Of the twenty cavalrymen led by Ye Ying, one had gone to send word for reinforcements, while another had donated his warhorse and become an infantryman. The remaining eighteen spread out as they advanced. While protecting the group, they also had to expand their search range as much as possible, hoping to bring down some game to make up for the food shortage in the short term.
This method of hunting was far more efficient than having Youqiao Clan's Hunting Team measure the ground with their own two legs.
