Thinking of the benefits he had gained from stomping that "Undying Cockroach" to death last time.
Qin Yang unwillingly searched again, even more carefully this time.
A moment later, Qin Yang returned to his seat with his head hanging low.
He had searched all of Areas 1 and 2 of the library, only catching two unlucky flies in a corner.
But this did not trigger the system's reward.
In the end, Qin Yang could only come to one conclusion.
This crazy system was spouting nonsense again.
A Beast Emperor appearing in the library? How was that possible?
What was a Beast Emperor? It was an existence even more terrifying than a Beast King!
In terms of strength, a Beast Emperor was a Star Beast powerful enough to surpass even human Grandmasters.
If there really were a Beast Emperor in this library, no one here would escape.
At that thought, Qin Yang immediately could not be bothered with this stupid system.
If there really was a Beast Emperor, he would not be able to escape with his meager strength anyway.
The more Qin Yang thought about it, the more depressed he became. How had he ended up with such an unreliable system?
"Ding, a Beast Emperor has been detected. Why haven't you fled yet, Host? Do you have a death wish?"
"With the Host's current strength, you are completely incapable of contending against a Beast Emperor!"
"Host, do not overestimate yourself and throw your life away for nothing!"
Seeing that Qin Yang was not moving, the system's tone seemed to grow anxious.
It kept urging him on, even carrying a hint of frustration at his failure to live up to expectations.
"What a moron..."
Qin Yang rolled his eyes and could not help cursing inwardly.
After all that fuss from the system, he lost interest in reading and directly closed the Seven Stars Footwork manual.
As Qin Yang closed the book, a blood-red glint flashed in the eyes of the tiny purple spider hanging above him. It then vanished into the ceiling along its thin web.
"Finally quiet..."
After stepping outside for a smoke, the system notifications finally stopped, and Qin Yang immediately let out a sigh of relief.
If this idiotic system had kept shouting, he really would have broken down.
In the blink of an eye, it was noon.
Qin Yang headed straight for the cafeteria.
If you were not proactive about eating, there was something wrong with your brain.
As a qualified foodie, Qin Yang was usually the first to arrive at the cafeteria.
"That Xia He actually didn't come to work all day."
"Looks like he really had a wild time last night..."
Even by the time work ended that afternoon, Qin Yang had not seen Xia He.
The next morning, Xia He finally showed up.
"What happened to you? Did someone steal a kidney from you?"
Seeing Xia He limp inside, Qin Yang could not help asking.
Could this guy have fallen for a Honey Trap last night? Xia He looked utterly defeated. "Don't mention it. I've really had the worst luck of my life."
Xia He then explained why he had skipped work the day before.
The night before last, Xia He had indeed gone to Bai Jin Han and called over some pretty young ladies.
But before he even got to enjoy himself, the Star Police Department happened to raid the place for prostitution.
He spent the night in the station, and Xia's Father had to bail him out the next day.
After returning home, Xia's Father pulled out Seven Wolves from his waist and let Xia He experience what profound fatherly love truly meant.
"My dad hit so hard, he nearly beat me to death!" Xia He grimaced in pain, his face full of frustration.
"The deeper the love, the harsher the scolding..."
Qin Yang comforted him aloud, but inwardly grumbled, If I were your dad, I'd have hit you even harder!
Xia He's incident was merely a small interlude in Qin Yang's laid-back life at the library.
After that, Qin Yang's life continued as peacefully as before.
He read at work, worked hard at eating, and practiced martial arts after work.
He was proactive about self-discipline!...
That day, Qin Yang was reading in Area 1, which he was responsible for.
He held a book titled Complete Compendium of Star Beasts.
Like humans, Star Beasts were born when ordinary animals absorbed Star Power, awakened certain bloodlines within them, and underwent transformation, gaining all sorts of peculiar abilities.
These abilities came in countless varieties and varied greatly in strength.
Some terrifying Star Beasts were born with control over supernatural powers such as wind, fire, thunder, and lightning.
Some Star Beasts could even directly transform into human forms and possessed high intelligence, allowing them to lurk in the human world.
What humans feared most were those powerful Star Beasts that possessed terrifying destructive abilities and violent temperaments.
Once such Star Beasts appeared in the human world, they would inevitably trigger a disaster.
If Star Beasts at the level of Beast Kings or Beast Emperors appeared, then unless Innate or Grandmaster experts stepped forward, even humanity's modern weapons would be unable to stop those terrifying beings.
"Hey, sir, are you all right?"
"What's wrong with you?"
"Spid... der..."
Bang! "Qin Yang, come over and take a look!"
Just as Qin Yang was immersed in the world of the book, Xia He's somewhat panicked voice suddenly came from neighboring Area 2.
What was this guy doing now? Qin Yang frowned, tossed aside his book, and quickly headed to Area 2.
"Sir, how are you?"
A middle-aged man lay on the floor while Xia He crouched beside him, asking helplessly.
Qin Yang stepped closer and saw that the man's face had turned purple, foam was spilling from his mouth, and his entire body was convulsing nonstop.
Was he having a seizure? Epilepsy? "Spid... spider..."
The middle-aged man managed only one difficult sentence before passing out completely.
Spider?
Qin Yang froze, then narrowed his eyes and looked at the middle-aged man's neck.
There was a blackish-purple patch on the man's neck that looked rather frightening.
Had he been bitten by a venomous spider? Would this guy turn into Spider-Man?
"What are you standing there for? Go call an ambulance!"
A human life was at stake, leaving no room for further thought. Qin Yang kicked Xia He, who was still standing there blankly, then notified the library's security staff.
A short while later, an ambulance arrived and took the unlucky middle-aged man to the hospital.
Afterward, several security guards came to Area 2 and asked about the details.
"I don't know either. He was reading there and seemed fine at first, but then he suddenly started convulsing and foaming at the mouth... He scared the hell out of me."
Xia He explained with a troubled expression to the security guards.
"There weren't any cameras?"
Qin Yang could not help interjecting.
The head of security looked rather grim. "The spot where he was sitting happened to be a blind spot for the cameras."
He could only pray inwardly that this incident had nothing to do with the library.
Otherwise, if the library management held him accountable, he would not be able to keep his job as head of security either.
"Qin Yang, that guy isn't going to die, is he?"
Xia He still looked shaken. The middle-aged man's sudden condition had clearly frightened him.
The man had collapsed in the area Xia He was responsible for. If something happened, he would probably be held accountable and might even be fired by the library.
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"
"He collapsed on your turf."
Qin Yang rolled his eyes, but his gaze swept across the library ceiling.
A spider?
Had the man seen it wrong, or had he really been bitten by a spider?
