In a patch of withered woods outside the ancient city, several burly figures, black as charcoal from head to toe, sat on the ground, emanating the demonic aura unique to the Outer Domain Evil Tribe.
"Everyone, there are quite a few experts in Heavenly Feather Divine City now. According to the information I gathered, members of the Great Thousand World's two Top-Tier Beast Clans—the Kunpeng Tribe and the Heaven-Reaching Ape Tribe—have both come here. They won't be easy to deal with."
A fiend with black hair blazing like flames and a scorching aura radiating from his body spoke first, his voice hoarse and grating.
"Cackle, cackle, cackle. They're merely blood food that's a little stronger than usual, yet they've scared you into this state. Yan Gou, it seems the more you cultivate, the further backward you go!"
A massive fiend, four or five meters tall, opened his sinister, bone-filled maw and let out a crunching laugh, mocking the former's timidity.
"Heh, only a thing like you, Gu Shi, who has nothing but bones and no brain, would underestimate the enemy so badly.
"Don't forget! The last time this place opened, if it hadn't been for your Bone Demon Tribe fellows provoking those Kunpengs, our tribe's ancestors would never have been dragged down with them!"
Yan Gou snorted and immediately brought up old grievances.
"Hmph! If those dead bastards from your Flame Demon Tribe had been stronger back then, how could they have been killed by a few stinking fish-birds? My tribe's ancestors wanted to kill blood food—could they have been wrong?!"
Gu Shi flew into a rage. The ghostly green flames in his eyes flickered ceaselessly, releasing an icy, imposing pressure as though they were about to ignite before him.
"You dead pile of bones, do you want to have a taste of my tribe's demonic flames?!"
Yan Gou revealed a sinister smile and ran his tongue over his thin black lips. The temperature around them began to rise as clusters of black flames emerged around him.
"Enough! If you two want to fight, wait until we return! If you start fighting now and draw those fish-birds and hairy monkeys here, none of us will get away with it!
"Since we've come here, we should think carefully about how to deal with those people and seize the opportunity we want!"
Seeing that the two were actually about to start fighting among themselves, Shi Kui somewhat regretted forcibly gathering these two fellows who had long despised each other. He had no choice but to release a stream of cold, overbearing corpse qi to cool them down.
Just as Shi Kui was considering how to continue using these two to help him find Demon Corpses, a clear laugh carrying the immense force to split mountains and shatter rocks descended from above them.
The laughter seemed to be some sort of special attack. It shook their vision black, while their Demon Souls felt as though they had been rammed by countless ferocious beasts.
"Haha! This friend from the Corpse Demon Tribe speaks great sense! Since you're here, make yourselves at home!
"This place has such treacherous scenery. It's the perfect place for the three of you to have your souls destroyed and rest in peace forever!"
A figure like a Sword Saint in white appeared out of thin air. His face was peerlessly handsome, his sharp brows swept into his temples, and killing intent filled his clear eyes. Wielding a dazzling golden divine sword, he split it into countless palm-sized qi swords that rained down upon them.
The dazzling golden swords descended like fallen leaves from towering ancient trees, blotting out the sky. In an instant, they completely swept away the darkness of the place, piercing toward the three fiends with unmatched killing intent.
A few breaths later, Yan Gou of the Flame Demon Tribe and the enormous Gu Shi had lost all signs of life beneath the piercing light swords, both crashing to the ground.
Shi Kui, meanwhile, endured the pain and was the first to regain his senses. He took out several pitch-black corpses to block most of the light swords for him. Miserable screams rang out continuously, but he looked like he could hold on for a while longer.
"You had the strength to yell at me instead of ending yourself quickly. Now I can capture a prisoner."
High in the air, two beams of Clear Radiance shot from Ye Kong's eyes, piercing through Shi Kui's shoulders. Surging sword qi immediately tore toward his legs, helping him perform a light surgery.
After confirming that Shi Kui no longer had even the slightest ability to resist, Officer Ye nodded in satisfaction and laughed loudly toward the group in the distance.
"Well, Brother Zong, everyone—does this gift still meet your eyes?"
"Officer Ye's cultivation is truly unfathomable. We are utterly astonished! Isn't that right, Big Brother?"
Before Zong Qingfeng could recover from his stunned daze, Zong Teng, the chief lackey and chief spy, hurriedly jumped out. He raised a thumbs-up and lavished Officer Ye with praise.
Zong Qingfeng was shaken awake by Zong Teng and hastily said, "Yes, yes, yes! Today has truly broadened my horizons!
"I had thought myself one of the finest experts beneath the Venerate Realm in this age. Only today do I realize that I am merely a frog at the bottom of a well."
In Zong Qingfeng's view, each of the three fellows Ye Kong had just dealt with could have fought him.
He believed he could at most hold a slight advantage over the Flame Demon and Bone Demon, while a battle against the Corpse Demon would be impossible to predict. His odds of victory might not even reach thirty percent.
Yet now, that fellow had been crippled by Ye Kong in an instant. If Ye Kong wanted to kill Zong Qingfeng, why would he need a second move? There was simply no room for refusal.
Seeing that Zong Qingfeng was beginning to turn into another Zong Teng, Ye Kong smiled faintly and continued, "In that case, Brother Zong, why don't you interrogate this fellow with me? Perhaps we can get something useful from him."
"How could I dare? How could I dare? Please proceed, Officer Ye. I'll just observe Officer Ye's methods from the side."
Having fully recognized the gap in their strength, Zong Qingfeng quickly erected a pitifully thick barrier between himself and Ye Kong. His words and actions became far more restrained.
Ye Kong did not mind. After landing, he dragged the heavily injured Shi Kui before him through the air, bound him with spiritual power, and tossed an apricot pit left over from breakfast into his mouth.
After roughly setting the mood, Officer Ye crossed his arms and sat in the chair Lu Hou handed him. With a very kind smile, he said, "You're one of the Corpse Demon Tribe, right? There is an old saying in the Great Thousand World: those who know the times are heroes!"
"Mm! Mm~ Mm~ Mm!"
Shi Kui's pupils contracted as he frantically squirmed.
Before Shi Kui's terrified gaze, Officer Ye rubbed his gleaming golden fingers. Faint sword shadows drifted around his fingertips as he slowly said, "I believe the thousands of flying swords in my hand will certainly pry open your mouth.
"Don't entertain any thoughts unbecoming of a prisoner. Tell us everything you know. That will be good for everyone.
"If you can tell us something that interests us, I guarantee you a smooth journey down the road to the underworld!"
"Mm! Mm! Mm!"
Shi Kui's eyes nearly split apart, and his pitch-black eyeballs seemed ready to leap from their sockets.
"Quite stubborn, aren't you? Little Hou, give him a few punches!"
The corners of Ye Kong's lips curled upward as he spoke to Lu Hou.
"Boss, he's already like this. I'm afraid one punch might kill him."
Lu Hou scratched his head, somewhat hesitant.
"Then kill him. It's no big deal. Just go at him.
"My entire family died at their hands in my early years. If I don't exterminate their tribe in the future, that would already count as my magnanimity."
Ye Kong did not care and told Lu Hou to do as he pleased.
Both his past and present lives were himself. These fellows shared a Blood Sea feud with him.
Not to mention that they developed even faster than NPCs. No matter how many he killed, there would never be an end to them.
"Alright! Then I can strike without worry!"
Learning of this past from Ye Kong for the first time, Lu Hou's eyes reddened as well. Controlling his strength, he threw dozens of punches at Shi Kui and only stopped when the latter was on the verge of death.
"This should be about enough now."
Ye Kong's gaze turned cold. With a flick of his finger, he sent out a streak of sword qi that shattered the apricot pit. He warned, "If you insist on being tough, I don't mind letting you experience the pain of ten thousand swords piercing your heart!"
"I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"
Shi Kui's mental will had collapsed. He discarded all other thoughts and poured out everything he knew in one breath, causing Ye Kong and Lu Hou's expressions to change repeatedly.
After finishing off Shi Kui, Ye Kong extracted more than ten drops of fiend blood from the three fiends' corpses for teleportation.
After putting away the Demon Blood, Ye Kong turned to look at Zong Qingfeng and found a trace of terror in the latter's eyes that absolutely should not have been there.
"Let's go, Brother Zong. I imagine this Demon Blood is no worse than the blood you brought from home, and it's fresher too."
"Yes, yes, yes. Let's go, let's go."
Zong Qingfeng no longer dared to look directly at this peerless ruthless figure. He secretly resolved that once he returned, he must warn every member of his tribe never to offend this fiendish god.
