Unknowable, invisible, in the infinite heights above.
The River of Time flowed quietly, without beginning or end.
A strange little boat carved entirely from jade drifted with the current atop the great river.
It had neither sail nor oar, yet it moved forward freely.
At times it rocked gently in a regular rhythm, and at times without any rhythm at all.
With every sway, rings of rainbow-colored ripples spread across the tranquil surface.
From within the boat's cabin came intermittent, muffled moans, enough to make one's face flush.
No one knew how much time had passed.
The cabin door was pushed open, and the rocking finally ceased.
The clouds dispersed and the rain cleared.
Two figures sat side by side at the bow, allowing brilliant colors and flowing light to brush past them.
Li Wei pulled her skirt up to her knees, exposing a pair of shapely, attractive calves to the air.
She dipped her feet into the River of Time.
Those fair, jade-like feet swayed gently in the "water" formed from time, stirring up fragments of broken light.
Her ankles were slender, the arches of her feet beautifully curved, and every toe was round and adorable.
Gu Jinzhi sat beside her in silence.
Yet the corners of his eyes kept straying, helplessly, again and again, to those jade feet swaying in the water.
Li Wei of course noticed.
She laughed inwardly, then turned her head with a smile curving her brows and eyes.
"Do they look good?"
Gu Jinzhi abruptly pulled his gaze away and looked into the distance.
But after only a few breaths, he honestly turned his eyes back again, letting them fall onto her feet.
He nodded.
"They look good."
"Pfft~"
Li Wei burst out laughing, the corners of her lips lifting slyly.
