Yang Yu turned his head with difficulty.
A breathtakingly beautiful face was inches from his own, practically touching his nose.
The woman wore an exceptionally bright, exaggerated smile, but her beautiful phoenix eyes were a frozen wasteland, devoid of even the slightest warmth.
"...Sis?" Yang Yu's voice was hoarse and weak, his eyes full of confusion. "Why did you... come back? I... ah... my head hurts..."
"What's wrong?" Yang Yan's smile became even sweeter. She extended a slender finger and lightly tapped Yang Yu's forehead. "Our nationally famous D-Class Little Hero lost his memory after one nap? Do you want your sister to help you remember, personally?"
"I..."
Fragments of memory suddenly snapped together!
World BOSS! King's Descent! And that sky-full of red light!
"My stuff!"
Yang Yu jolted upright, struggling to sit up. The movement tugged at wounds all over his body, making him suck in a sharp breath of pain.
"Where's my stuff? Where are the drops?!"
He asked anxiously. Those were Legendary Quality items!
"Heh."
Yang Yan sneered and slowly straightened up.
She casually swiped through the air, opening a faintly glowing rift into her Storage Space.
Then, as if she had just returned from the market, she began taking things out one by one.
A Dark Red Heart, still faintly beating and radiating a majestic aura of life, was gently slapped onto the blanket covering Yang Yu.
The impact made Yang Yu's whole body jolt.
"There, your loot!" Yang Yan's tone was filled with "admiration." "Heart of the Abyss Demon Dragon? Tsk, tsk, a Legendary Grade item! All Attributes +150. So impressive~"
Another item was slapped onto him.
It was a pitch-black longsword with a savage design, its blade seeming to contain countless wailing vengeful souls.
At the guard was a lifelike demon eye, radiating an ominous red glow.
"Abyss Demon Eye Sword? Wow, another Legendary Grade item! Your sister has spent three hard years at Imperial Capital University, risking her life and limb, yet I don't even have a single Legendary item on me. My dear little brother, you've really made something of yourself!"
Yang Yu felt as though he was covered not by equipment, but by two mountains, crushing the breath out of him.
Finally, a scroll glowing with dazzling golden light was slapped on top.
The energy fluctuations emanating from the scroll even made the air in the entire hospital room turn viscous.
"Abyss Dungeon Difficulty Activation Scroll?! An Epic Grade item!!! My dear little brother, last night you really were... in the limelight, weren't you? What a haul!"
With every word Yang Yan spoke, her tone grew more sarcastic. By the final few words, they were practically forced through clenched teeth.
Yang Yu was in pain from her slapping, but what truly frightened him was the icy Killing Intent around his sister, almost solid enough to take form.
He had no doubt that if looks could kill, he would have already been cut to pieces.
Only after Yang Yan returned the Wild Boar King Set to Yang Yu.
Yang Yu shrank his neck and said softly like a child who had done something wrong, "...Sis, I..."
"D-Class!"
Yang Yan suddenly bent down, bracing both hands against either side of the hospital bed and trapping Yang Yu between herself and the bed!
"You're D-Class! You solo-killed a Level 20 World BOSS across levels! Yang Yu! You truly have no predecessors and will have no successors, the undisputed strongest person in the world! Should I get down on my knees and kowtow to you right now?"
She was extremely close. Her orchid-like breath brushed Yang Yu's face, yet it carried a chill like falling into an ice cave.
Seeing the fury in his sister's eyes, and the faint lingering fear and exhaustion hidden beneath that fury, guilt and emotion instantly surged through Yang Yu's heart.
He put on a pained expression and lowered his head. "Sorry... Sis. I made you worry... and made you come all the way back from the Imperial Capital..."
"Worry?!"
Yang Yan seemed to have heard some enormous joke, and her anger shot up again.
"I was worried you'd die too fast for me to make it in time to collect your corpse!"
"At the time... it was an emergency..." Yang Yu tried to explain.
"An emergency?!" Yang Yan cut him off rudely. "Emergency, my ass. I think you were just in a hurry to farm equipment!"
Pointing at Yang Yu's nose, she enunciated every word. "Do you know that you're famous now? The name 'Yang Yu' is probably hanging at the very top of the intelligence boards of every major force, every country, and even the Alien Races!"
Yang Yu froze. "I'm famous? What happened?"
Before he fell unconscious, he had only heard the system's notifications for the kill and level-up. He had no idea what happened afterward.
Yang Yan looked at his bewildered expression, and the corner of her mouth lifted slightly.
She had specifically checked those websites, and nothing like that had happened.
It seemed that the people in Lin Hai City weren't completely useless after all.
She was only saying this so Yang Yu would understand the severity of the situation.
After all, this was precisely the sort of situation she was facing now.
So she continued.
"You don't still think becoming famous is a good thing, do you? The nature of your fame is far too serious! Serious enough that those Alien Race assassins lurking in the human world may already be on their way to Lin Hai City!"
"Before human geniuses have grown strong, their greatest value is as targets to be hunted! Those geniuses who fell throughout history—how do you think they died?! Killed by monsters? No! Nine and a half out of ten died to assassinations! They died because of arrogant people who didn't know how to hide their edge! Do you think your life is tougher than theirs?!"
Every word Yang Yan said was like a heavy hammer striking Yang Yu's heart.
Yang Yu's expression gradually turned grave.
For the first time, he truly realized the severity of the problem.
He had only thought about becoming stronger, only about fulfilling his bet with his sister. He had never considered that such meteoric rise would bring such deadly danger.
The hospital room fell into deathly silence.
Yang Yan took a deep breath, then slowly let it out, her chest heaving violently a few times.
Looking at her younger brother lying in bed, pale-faced and covered in bandages, the towering fury in her heart finally dissipated by more than half.
Suddenly, she leaned close again. Her cold phoenix eyes stared fixedly into Yang Yu's, as though trying to see through his soul.
But this time, aside from her lingering anger, her voice carried a trace of barely restrained... excitement?
"Hey, brat... tell me honestly..."
"Did you... use cheats?"
Yang Yu's scalp prickled under her gaze, and he instinctively looked away. "...What cheats? It's just... my awakened talent is a little strong, that's all..."
Yang Yan stared at him for a full five seconds.
Then, she suddenly grinned.
Her smile was bright and radiant, yet it contained a hint of madness that no one else could understand.
She abruptly raised her hand and heavily slapped Yang Yu's bandaged shoulder!
Bang!
Yang Yu felt as though he had been struck by the King of the Pigmen. His vision went black, and he nearly failed to catch his breath, almost passing out on the spot.
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
Yang Yan straightened up and burst into an incomparably delighted laugh.
She reached out with her other hand and roughly messed up Yang Yu's hair.
"Ha! Good! You've got guts! Just as expected of the Old Yang Family's blood! Crazy enough! Fierce enough!"
"If you want to court death like this again... remember to tell your sister in advance!"
"So I can prepare a coffin of the highest standard for you!"
"Or... help you chop down a few more idiots who don't know their place!"
Before you continue
