The prisoners of war huddled in the corners of the deck, their eyes filled with terror. Only that patch of white in the center stood out sharply.

Eva wore a spotless white military uniform. Though its hem was stained with a little dust, it did nothing to affect her focused expression.

Eva held sterile gauze between her fingertips, her movements as precise as a finely calibrated instrument. She first rinsed the wound with saline, then sprinkled hemostatic powder over it, every step orderly and unhurried.

A prisoner beside her could not help shrinking back. The roar of mech engines came from afar, yet she seemed not to hear it, staring only at the wounded man's injury with a slight furrow in her brow. "Don't be nervous. It'll be over soon."

Not far away, three mech warriors had already aimed the energy cannons on their arms at Eva. Their metal joints gave off sharp clicks.
