The residents of Lion Harbor spent a sleepless night in fear.
They had been sleeping soundly when they were suddenly awakened by the booming of cannon fire. Blazing light shot into the sky from the direction of the harbor district, frightening everyone half to death.
In a situation like this, no one could think of going back to sleep. Women hid at home, trembling as they prayed, while men went outside to ask their neighbors what was happening.
It was not until City Hall sent people into the streets with loudspeakers to announce that a small group of pirates had infiltrated the city to cause trouble and had already been surrounded and attacked by the army in the harbor district that the residents were ordered to return home immediately and forbidden to spread rumors.
At the same time, large numbers of police began sealing off all the important intersections, prohibiting passage and the gathering of crowds.
The flames in the direction of the harbor filled the owners who had goods stockpiled in the various warehouses with anguish. Terrified that their own property might be burning, they cursed the damned pirates and wished them all in hell.
This continued until dawn. The morning sunlight dispelled the darkness, and City Hall issued another announcement lifting the citywide curfew. Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that the situation had finally settled down.
The previously silent streets suddenly filled with people. Everyone was eager to learn more. Most of those living in Lion Harbor made their living from maritime trade, so how could they remain calm after such an audacious band of pirates had suddenly appeared?
