Background

Mixed-Blood Origins

Xiang Yu was born from the Celestial Demon and Life-Death Demon Skeleton lineages. His father was the current Demon King, associated with the Life and Death Ancestor’s inheritance. As a child, Xiang Yu revered that inheritance and hoped to awaken its Life and Death Law 236 249.

Despite his parentage, the Devil Race treated his mixed blood as taboo. He endured mockery and rejection, eventually leaving the Endless Demon Sea to spare his parents further pressure. His combined bloodlines actually gave him exceptional potential, but the clan feared that his descendants would inherit increasingly diluted and chaotic blood. Before his departure, it cursed him so that any offspring would die unnaturally at a certain age 237 249.

Ancient Tian Yuan Catastrophe

After leaving his homeland, Xiang Yu wandered through space and slaughtered transcendent creatures before reaching Tian Yuan Star. His Heavenly Demon Great Hand Seal became infamous for nearly destroying the planet ten thousand years before the main events 249 279.

He was believed to have been annihilated by Tian Yuan’s ancient powerhouses, but survived despite the destruction of his life force. Part of his Origin remained sealed beneath the Gathering Heroes Hall; an ancient expert had refined a portion into the Myriad Soldier Talisman and sealed the remaining energy within an Origin space 202 203 218 220.

Appearance

Xiang Yu’s revealed demonic body is humanoid but grotesquely malformed, with gray-white skin covered in ancient inscriptions 211.

  • Black horn: Grows from his head and intermittently emits black light 211.
  • Runic markings: Cover his body and can detach to become chains or activate inherited abilities 208 214.
  • Eyes: Described as deep blue during his manifestation over Di Yuan Star and scarlet in later encounters 210 247.
  • Variable form: Can enlarge himself until a city appears tiny beneath him, or assume an ordinary human appearance 210 247.
  • Self-inflicted engravings: Repeatedly carved the remembered outline of the thief who stole his Origin into his own flesh 220.

Personality

Xiang Yu is sadistic, volatile, and openly contemptuous of weaker beings. He regards populated worlds as sources of food and entertainment, preferring slaughter to meditation. His enjoyment extends beyond eating flesh: he deliberately torments prey to savor their grief, despair, and other negative emotions 247 251 267.

His pride makes humiliation especially difficult to bear. Losing his Origin becomes an obsession, driving him to engrave the thief’s image into his body and repeatedly vow revenge. Nevertheless, he can recognize overwhelming superiority: Black Feather’s warning restrains him from massacring people at Chuiyun Starport 220 247 251.

Beneath his brutality, Xiang Yu is lonely and longs for family. Fusion with the Heavenly Demon Cult Master gives him human emotional tendencies, including homesickness. Believing Jiang Yan to be a fellow rejected mixed-blood and his half-brother, he becomes protective and generous. This affection depends entirely on the deception; he would kill Jiang Yan without hesitation if he learned the truth 249 251.

Abilities & Skills

Devouring and Bloodline Inheritance

Xiang Yu gains power by consuming flesh, blood essence, and compatible Origins rather than relying on conventional martial cultivation. His ancestral memories allow inherited laws and abilities to awaken as he grows 218 236 280.

  • Rapidly absorbs three Heavenly Demon Origins, repairing his own Origin and advancing to Fifth Heaven 280.
  • Possesses mixed bloodlines that strengthen one another and give him unusually high potential 237 280.
  • Ordinary martial artists’ flesh no longer meaningfully aids his Tenth Order recovery, despite his continued slaughter of them 211.

Destruction, Rebirth, and Regeneration

Jiang Yan identifies the Celestial Demon’s fundamental powers as “destruction and rebirth, decay and reconstruction.” His survival is not limited to maintaining an intact physical body 203.

  • Regenerates flesh deformed by Hong Luo’s punches 211.
  • Can survive as a fragment of Origin after an avatar’s body is destroyed 214.
  • His revival remains possible unless his Origin is eliminated 214.
  • Origin damage can prevent him from activating powerful inherited techniques 215.
  • The Yin Manifestation Five Elements Array can disrupt his regeneration while draining his energy 282.

Natal Law and Life and Death Law

Xiang Yu reaches the Tenth Order through his Celestial Demon natal law and subsequently awakens the Life and Death Law. His bloodline inheritance automatically harmonizes the two 237 250.

  • Uses death-aligned black dragons during his attack on Black Feather 247.
  • Can sense the distinctive Life and Death Law across a region, leading him to Jiang Yan 247 248.
  • Believes adding a third law would cause his own body to explode; his two-law compatibility is a bloodline exception 250.
  • Mistakes Jiang Yan’s possession of the Life and Death Law for proof of shared parentage 248 249.

Skeletal Cage and True Demon Final Mark

An inherited Life-Death Demon Skeleton ability converts his runes into chains and skeletal structures. Its large-scale form, True Demon Final Mark: Imprison, uses four stars as pillars 214.

  • Restrains the bodies of five War Gods and blocks their escape by teleportation 214.
  • Cuts off information, including communication between his avatar and main body 214.
  • Traps Xiao Chunwei; most spells cannot escape without sufficient brute force 286.
  • Is not absolute: Xuan Rou escapes its restraint, and Black Feather dismantles it effortlessly 214 247.

Heavenly Demon Great Hand Seal

A peerless divine ability inherited through the Heavenly Demon bloodline, feared even by the True Origin Martial Ancestor 279.

  • Nearly destroyed Tian Yuan Star ten thousand years earlier 279.
  • Tears open enormous spatial rifts when unleashed against the Kongyue Sect’s stone statue 279.
  • Remains formidable after the loss of half his Origin, but is defeated by the statue’s superior attack 279.

Demon Skeleton True Monarch / True Body

A supreme Life and Death lineage ability manifested after Xiang Yu restores his Origin. Its activation destroys and reconstructs his body beneath an immense demonic presence 280.

  • Produces a towering demon phantom and battlefield-spanning demonic manifestations 280.
  • Gives him overwhelming superiority over the assembled War Gods 280 281.
  • Raises his combat strength far beyond his Fifth Heaven realm 286.
  • Does not protect him from a prepared ancient formation capable of obstructing Eleventh Realm experts 281.

Spatial Movement, Concealment, and Avatars

Xiang Yu combines rapid spatial movement with an unusually elusive presence 208 218 248.

  • Teleports directly before Jiang Yan before he can react and travels through spatial rifts 218 248.
  • Blocks Spiritual Power detection; Jiang Yan uses Jungle Law to track his dungeon counterpart 203 208.
  • His Dao aura cannot be perceived normally even by War Gods, who describe Celestial Demons as severing heavenly secrets and existing outside the Five Elements 208.
  • Uses an avatar to occupy five War Gods while his main body searches for his sealed Origin 214.

Equipment & Items

  • Secret Realm Token — Used to enter the Myriad Laws Secret Realm while investigating the familiar Life and Death aura 247.
  • Shadow Companion Array / Formation Disk — Supplied by Xiao Chunwei for summoning assistance within the Four Directions Realm; later transports Xiang Yu to the ancient sect’s location 260 267.
  • Three Heavenly Demon Origins — Given by Gu Jin and immediately consumed to restore his Origin and advance his realm 280.

Relationships

  • Life and Death Ancestor / Demon King — Father and source of his Life-Death Demon Skeleton inheritance. Xiang Yu admired his power as a child 236 249.
  • Mother — Named him Xiang Yu. He left the Endless Demon Sea partly to protect her from the shame imposed by his clan 237 249.
  • Jiang Yan — Unrecognized Origin thief and supposed half-brother. Xiang Yu funds his cultivation, gives him resources, and protects him while unknowingly hunting that same person 215 249 251 252 259.
  • Heavenly Demon Cult Master — Preserved the shell that enabled his revival. Xiang Yu ultimately devoured and fused with his soul, retaining dominance but acquiring some human emotions 208 249.
  • Xiao Chunwei — Former collaborator who helped him bypass formations in exchange for assistance in the Four Directions Realm. Their alliance ends when Xiao Chunwei traps him and drains his power 218 281 282.
  • Hong Luo — Enemy who confronts him over the massacre on Di Yuan Star; later fights both Xiang Yu and the Limit Domain Demon 211 291.
  • Black Feather — Overwhelmingly superior stranger who spares him because of ties to the Life and Death Ancestor and warns him against attacking Chuiyun Starport 247.
  • Gu Jin — Supplies the three Origins that restore and strengthen him; Xiang Yu does not understand his motive 280.
  • Limit Domain Demon — Hostile fellow demon who mocks his mixed blood and expulsion from the Endless Demon Sea 291.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Revival and the Tian Yuan Crisis

The Heavenly Demon Cult Master’s attempt to merge with Xiang Yu culminates in the demon becoming the dominant consciousness. News of his survival destabilizes Tian Yuan Star, exposing disputes over the authorities’ longstanding protection of the cult 190 202 208 249.

Xiang Yu then manifests over Di Yuan Star and devours a city. By the time Hong Luo intervenes, the death toll has reached hundreds of millions. Their battle moves into space, where Xiang Yu pierces through an uninhabited planet hurled at him 210 211.

The Stolen Origin

The battle in space is a diversion. While his avatar occupies five War Gods, Xiang Yu’s main body infiltrates the Gathering Heroes Hall to retrieve the missing half of his Origin. Jiang Yan follows him, steals the Origin sphere, and conceals it with the Hunxu Ancestral Spirit 214 215.

Unable to locate the thief or reclaim the sphere, Xiang Yu destroys Heart Source City and Tian Yuan City in rage. He subsequently meets Xiao Chunwei, revealing their cooperation, and agrees to assist him when the Four Directions Realm opens 215 218.

Jiang Yan uses the stolen Origin to cultivate his Spiritual Power and sustain Chaos Void World. Xiang Yu can feel it being consumed across vast distances but cannot determine its location 220 221 224.

Mistaken Brotherhood

After Black Feather prevents him from attacking Chuiyun Starport, Xiang Yu follows a familiar Life and Death aura into the Myriad Laws Secret Realm. Jiang Yan exploits his assumptions about the law’s inheritance and fabricates a childhood as an abandoned mixed-blood 247 248.

Convinced they share the Demon King as their father, Xiang Yu accepts Jiang Yan as his younger brother. He finances Jiang Yan’s cultivation, offers to seize the Secret Realm, and repeatedly tries to introduce him to the pleasure of destroying planets 249 251 252.

Kongyue Sect and Restored Power

Within the Four Directions Realm, Xiang Yu enters the ancient Kongyue Sect and falls under its altered memories, believing himself to be Jiang Yan’s senior brother. Jiang Yan reignites his bloodthirsty nature by persuading him that he has killed Xuan Nan 270 275.

After confronting the sect’s stone statue and suffering defeat, Xiang Yu receives three Heavenly Demon Origins from Gu Jin. He advances to Fifth Heaven, unleashes Demon Skeleton True Monarch, and devours more than a dozen War Gods 279 280 281.

Xiao Chunwei then turns the sect’s formation against him, suppressing his regeneration and siphoning his strength. Jiang Yan breaks the formation and frees him. Xiang Yu pursues Xiao Chunwei, destroys his defensive arrays, and traps him inside a skeletal cage for a one-sided beating 281 282 286.

Three-Way Battle

Xiang Yu later arrives near White Tiger’s territory, frightening away the surrounding spectators. After exchanging insults with the Limit Domain Demon, he enters a three-way battle with that demon and Hong Luo, leaving Jiang Yan free to investigate White Tiger 291.
