Aside from their respective functions, the artificial sky islands surrounding Vivel also recreated environments that ordinary Floating Cities could never possess.
Before humanity had been invaded by the Demon Scarabs, when people still lived on the ground, those natural environments so familiar to humans had been recreated on these artificial sky islands.
The Ninth Artificial Sky Island recreated a forest environment. Even its outer edges were covered in lush, dense woodland. The untamed trees had grown unchecked, almost completely blocking out the light from above, while the thick vegetation obstructed the paths, creating a tropical forest landscape found nowhere else.
However, the closer one got to the central area of the Ninth Artificial Sky Island, the sparser the forest became. In its place was a river-filled terrain.
Looking down from above the Ninth Artificial Sky Island, one could see rivers running into a massive lake in the central area.
This enormous lake occupied one-fifteenth of the entire Ninth Artificial Sky Island. Its average depth was forty meters, while its maximum depth exceeded one hundred meters, making it a facility that defied common sense.
Aside from the enormous lake, there was also a wide plain in the central area.
The artificial facilities were located there.
They included the central control building, which controlled the functions of the entire artificial sky island, and a large-scale device that generated the Magi Domain used for forced transfers. Underground, there were also large purification tanks and circulation pumps for filtering the artificial sky island's water, along with enormous storage tanks to maintain the necessary water level in the lake. Together, these facilities provided everything needed to protect the rich ecosystem.
