When Luo Zhen entered His Holiness the Pope's bedchamber once again and stepped into the audience hall, the absurd scene from before was gone. In its place was an extremely grave atmosphere.
Anneroj sat upright on the throne, looking at Luo Zhen with complicated emotions flickering in her eyes.
Chris and Emily were there as well. When they saw Luo Zhen arrive, they each greeted him.
"Luo Rorerei."
"Long time no see, little Luo."
Chris and Emily spoke to Luo Zhen at the same time.
"Nice to see you again, Academy Director." Luo Zhen nodded at Chris, then looked toward Emily and said helplessly, "And Miss Emily, we only had a fight here two days ago. That doesn't count as a long time, does it?"
"Is that so?" Emily giggled. "Then why does it feel like I haven't seen little Luo in ages?"
"Probably because you've been staying here the whole time." Luo Zhen shrugged. "This is an underground city, after all. Anyone would feel stifled living here year-round without going outside. Days can feel like years under those circumstances."
"True enough." Emily nodded with great seriousness. "Looks like I'll have to find an opportunity to go out and take a stroll."
Chris was the first to dissuade her.
"Don't do anything reckless, Miss Emily." Chris sighed. "You're still a traitor to the Humanoid Demon Scarabs faction, and Jess's order to hunt you down hasn't been withdrawn. If you go out casually and get spotted by people sent by Jess, that would be bad."
"That's right." Ripa spoke up as well. "You're the only Collapse Power wielder on our side. Your combat strength is extremely valuable, so please protect yourself."
