Within Alfheim, the nine races occupied eight regions scattered around the edges of the continent.
However, there was also a neutral region at the center of Alfheim.
That neutral region contained a fairly large neutral city.
It was known as the Central City—Arun.
Yet Arun had been built at the roots of an impossibly enormous tree.
That impossibly enormous tree was none other than the World Tree.
"The inside of the World Tree is a huge dome-shaped temple. There's an entrance at the top of the dome, and from there, you can climb inside the World Tree. If you keep climbing all the way to the top and reach the aerial city there, then meet Elf King Oberon, the entire race you belong to will be reincarnated as Light Elves, and the Aerial Restriction will be removed forever. That's why every race has always treated conquering the World Tree as its goal."
Leafa spoke at length.
"However, the temple inside the World Tree is guarded by an army of Guardian Knights NPCs, and they're incredibly powerful. Every race has launched several attempts to conquer the World Tree by now, but each time, they were completely wiped out by the Guardian Knight army. Even the Fire Elves, currently the most powerful of the nine races, have never conquered the World Tree or reached its summit."
At that point, Leafa herself grew somewhat dejected.
"So, even though it's already been a year since ALO officially launched, no one has managed to reach the top of the World Tree and be reincarnated as a Light Elf. Because of that, last autumn, a major information website gathered a large number of signatures and demanded that RECT, the operator, improve the game balance so players could properly conquer the World Tree. In response, they only
