This was one of Tokyo's twenty-three wards, an urban residential district in southwestern Tokyo renowned for its convenient access to the city center and excellent living environment. It was Tokyo's wealthy district, with lines such as the Odakyu Electric Railway, Keio Line, and Tokyu Toyoko Line leading to bustling areas like Shinjuku and Shibuya. Among Tokyo's special wards, it was the second-largest in area and the most populous.
Miyasaka lay in the center of Setagaya Ward. It bordered Sakurajosui and Akatsutsumi to the north, Gotokuji to the east, Sakura to the south, and Kyodo to the west. Geographically, the Kitazawa River flowed along the northern side and the Karasuyama River through the south. The central area consisted of rolling hills, but there were few steep slopes within the district.
