Without a doubt, sword skills were finishing moves powerful enough to determine the victor of a duel.
Sword skills were inherently far more powerful than ordinary attacks, and the system assisted them in every way. Once they struck an opponent, taking all of their HP in one go and killing them was a simple matter.
In many battles, sword skills could be used to lay the foundation for victory. This was true whether one was fighting players or monsters.
However, unlike fighting monsters, using sword skills carelessly against players was actually quite foolish.
Unlike monsters, which generally acted according to preset patterns and could therefore be predicted to a certain extent, allowing one to chain attacks continuously, players were living human beings. They adapted to circumstances in battle and could not fight according to any fixed pattern.
Against such players, using a sword skill recklessly raised the question of whether it would hit at all. There was also the problem that using a sword skill created a period of rigidity afterward, during which one could not move.
By then, one would become a target for the enemy, ending up being attacked at will until death.
Therefore, even though the duration of the rigidity varied according to one's proficiency in different skills and the bonuses from one's stats, every sword skill still caused rigidity without exception. When dueling a player, unless one was absolutely certain of hitting and finishing off the opponent, one absolutely could not use a sword skill.
