Needless to say, a formal contract and a temporary contract were two different things.
As its name suggested, a temporary contract was merely temporary. Once both parties had fulfilled the purpose of their contract, it would automatically be dissolved, regardless of whether they were willing.
In the past, temporary contracts were mostly used by two parties who did not trust each other but shared a common goal and therefore needed to cooperate.
After the contract was concluded, both parties enjoyed its legitimacy and binding force based solely on that one purpose. Once the goal was achieved, however, the contract would be directly dissolved without leaving anything behind.
In the current situation, the Servants who had formed temporary contracts with Luo Zhen would maintain those contracts only until the Singularity was successfully repaired.
The Chaldea Master and the stray Servants in the Singularity shared only the goal of repairing and laying the foundation of the Singularity. Thus, the temporary contracts between them would automatically remain in effect until the Singularity was repaired. Once that happened, the contracts would automatically dissolve, allowing the Servants to return to the "Throne" one after another and complete the missions for which they had been summoned.
A formal contract, on the other hand, was different.
A formal contract would only be dissolved when the conditions no longer allowed it to continue.
For example, during the ritual of the Holy Grail War, the contracts between the Masters and Servants would remain in effect until the ritual ended. Even if all the Command Seals were consumed and their binding authority was gone, the contracts would continue until the ritual supporting them ended and no more magical energy could be supplied to the Servants. Only then would the Servants return to the "Throne."
