As Kageno Island fell into turmoil, the beings responsible for everything appeared on the rooftop of a high-rise building.
Standing at the edge of the rooftop, where one step forward would send him plunging down, Chika Hayato raised his head and glanced at the sky.
"It should be about time, shouldn't it, Dishenpo?"
Chika Hayato asked Dishenpo, who was sitting beside him with her legs hanging over the edge of the rooftop, chewing bubble gum as she faced the wind.
"Is it time already?" Dishenpo blew a bubble, glanced at the sky as well, and asked in her characteristically carefree tone, "It isn't dark yet. Is it really all right to act now?"
"It's fine." Chika Hayato replied bluntly. "Although it isn't dark yet, the Artificial Island Management Corporation is already too busy dealing with its own problems. Even if we start acting now, they won't react that quickly."
"That's true." Dishenpo nodded indifferently, then looked to the side. "Kari, are you all right?"
Upon closer inspection, besides Dishenpo and Chika Hayato, a beastkin girl named Kari was also on the rooftop.
Unlike before, however, Kari was now lying prone on the rooftop floor. Beside her was a black transport case that seemed to be meant for carrying a cello.
Naturally, the case did not contain a musical instrument. It held a large military rifle.
