In Mesopotamian mythology, there was a goddess who had been the ruler of the underworld since the moment of her birth.
She governed the growth and decay of plants, commanded snakes and dragons, and could freely control the Galra Spirits, the messengers of the underworld. She existed as the goddess who controlled death.
In terms of divinity and authority, this goddess could only be considered average among the many gods of Mesopotamian mythology.
However, because someone had to govern the underworld and take responsibility for managing the deaths of the living, this goddess had been saddled with a thankless, arduous task. Though her divinity and authority were not particularly strong, she became unquestionably invincible while in the underworld. No god or Heroic Spirit could resist her judgment.
This goddess was named Ereshkigal. She was the mistress of the underworld, the ruler of death and the dead, and also an earth goddess. She was widely known as the city guardian deity of Kusaa City and revered by humanity.
Now, this goddess's name had been brought up.
That was because the current situation was indeed inseparable from her.
"The Galra Spirits were originally under that woman's control as messengers of the underworld. Only she could release a scent of death powerful enough to envelop the entire fortified city, continually bringing death to humanity.
