Background / History

Yaya is the second daughter of Karyusai Shoko's Snow Moon Flower series and bears the designation Moon. Initially without a Doll Master, she could generate her own magic power but could not sustain her full performance; her strength, speed, and defense were consequently far below their potential 110.

Willful and openly hostile toward humans outside Shoko's mansion, Yaya rejected the idea of being traded, controlled, or used as a weapon. Her prejudice stemmed from both her pride as a top-class doll and her fear of being treated as an object rather than a living being with a will of her own 116 120 121.

After secretly observing Luo Zhen, Yaya repeatedly challenged him. Luo Zhen eventually subdued her using ten wooden puppets reinforced with Magic Defense and Magic Resilience, exhausting her magic power and forcing her to confront the limitations of her experience and arrogance 119 120. His assertion that life has meaning as long as one continues living deeply affected her 121.

Yaya then began visiting the nearby human city to observe people for herself. Encounters with both kind and malicious humans led her to acknowledge that not all humans matched her former assumptions, and she resolved to reconsider her attitude toward them 125.

When Akaba Tenzenn attacked Luo Zhen, Yaya exhausted nearly all her magic power to reach him in time and save him. She then voluntarily asked Luo Zhen to provide mana, declaring that she would become his Doll for that battle. With his support, she overwhelmed Tenzenn's doll Hotsuru and experienced her full potential for the first time 131 132. Afterward, she made her commitment permanent; Shoko formally recognized Yaya as belonging to Luo Zhen 137 140.

At Walpurgis Royal Meccha Academy, Yaya serves as Luo Zhen's principal combat automaton. A Shikigami contract enables him to supply her with mana remotely and operate her Magic Circuits at their optimum state 659. Later, she is identified as the foremost candidate among the sisters to become a Divine Machine Doll, a possibility that greatly distresses her 2159. Luo Zhen ultimately establishes an Absolute Contract with Yaya, Irori, and Koko, allowing mental communication and a means for them to return to his side 2202.

Yaya has an exceptionally lifelike, doll-like beauty, with fair skin and black hair. She usually wears a short black silk kimono that leaves her shoulders bare and reveals part of her thighs 615.

Personality

Yaya is proud, emotional, and headstrong. Before meeting Luo Zhen, she regarded humans as shallow beings who would only use and control dolls, and she reacted strongly to being treated as property or a tool 120 121.

Her experiences in the city soften this outlook without removing her standards: she continues to dislike vulgar or predatory people, but recognizes that humans are not uniformly bad 125. She is fiercely protective of Luo Zhen, willing to act independently to shield him from danger even without his mana support 131 657.

After choosing Luo Zhen as her master, Yaya becomes intensely affectionate, possessive, and jealous of other girls or familiars receiving his attention. Her attempts to care for him frequently become intrusive or inappropriate, much to Luo Zhen's exasperation 137 615 617. Despite this immaturity, she sincerely wants to be useful to him and takes her promise to protect him seriously 134 2202.
