A towering figure sat at the table, both arms braced against it, hands clasped as he rhythmically knocked them against the tabletop.
His brows were tightly furrowed. After a while, he picked up the pen beside him and wrote two words on the paper:
Prosperity.
But he soon crossed them out and wrote two different words:
Decay.
Looking at the two divine names, his expression grew solemn.
"What is it? Have you still not made your choice?"
Just as the figure fell into silent contemplation, a voice suddenly rang out above his head.
He looked up in astonishment, only to find a figure outlined in candlelight hanging upside down in midair, tilting its head as it looked at him. The man froze for a moment, then shook his head and laughed.
"Why do you always like sitting upside down in midair? Also, we agreed that you'd knock before coming in."
"Qin Xin, do you want to see who you're talking to? Standing before you is the great Hope's Flame, who is desperately protecting you all before the gods!
"You're being far too hurtful."
As it spoke, the Candlelight Person actually began sobbing, tears streaming down its face. Its tears, however, were not water, but tear-flames.
The tear-flames quietly slid across its forehead and hair, like drops of melted wax falling onto Qin Xin's head.
The seemingly cheerful little flames instantly ignited Qin Xin's hair. Qin Xin gave an exasperated laugh and shook his head, changing his hair back into flames to resist the other party's prank.
Usually, the melodrama ended there, because the Candlelight Person knew that its flames could not harm Qin Xin. But today was different. Seeing Qin Xin's reaction, it burst into uproarious laughter.
