So, if they wanted to know why a play of Memory was being performed inside this theater, perhaps they could only follow the "plot" and proceed slowly.
But Cheng Shi clearly had no intention of being "manipulated," so he turned around and left, once again squeezing back through the gap in the theater's main gate.
Seeing this, Ai Si and Zhang Jizu exchanged glances, both covered in awkward black lines.
"Battle Marshal Zhang, don't tell me you're going to do the same as that Cheng fellow and crawl back through the gap in the gate."
Zhang Jizu narrowed his eyes at Ai Si and gave her a meaningful smile.
"You're brave. That's different from what I imagined."
With that, he lifted his foot and followed Cheng Shi through the gate.
Ai Si furrowed her brows slightly and stared thoughtfully at Zhang Jizu's back. Not long afterward, she suddenly nodded in realization, then let out a snort. Ignoring the two men, she chose to cross through the marketplace and head toward the theater at the other end.
The road was not far, but Ai Si proceeded very cautiously. As she walked, she observed the movements, expressions, words, and postures of everyone around her, wanting to see whether these NPCs who looked like mere background characters truly existed.
