After leaving Graf Mansion, Levi headed toward a nearby inn. As he walked, while passing through a damp, gloomy alley, he faintly sensed someone following him. He turned his head and looked, but there was no one there.
A strange feeling rose in his heart, and he silently began circulating the Black Snake Breathing Technique. The Black Snake Seed danced with the rise and fall of his heart, and wisps of black qi flowed into Levi's arms. If one lifted Levi's clothing and arm guards, they would see that his forearms were now wrapped in pitch-black qi, savage and terrifying, as if densely covered in countless black snakes.
Suddenly, he snapped his head up. A black shadow attacked from above, a dark-blue dagger stabbing down toward his face. The dagger was too fast, and Levi only had time to block with both arms.
With a rip, Levi's clothes were torn first. Then the arm-guard section of the chainmail he wore close to his body split apart, iron rings cracking piece by piece and scattering across the ground. The next moment, there came another rip, like something sharp cutting through rubber.
With a bang, Levi was sent flying backward and crashed straight into the garbage heap behind him. Big black rats were startled and scattered in every direction.
"Hurts." Levi had no time to check the wound on his arm, because the next moment, sharp throwing knives came whistling through the air.
