Synthesizing a First-Tier Potion
Gurgle, gurgle!
The sound of the liquid boiling gradually weakened, finally fading away completely.
Sunan picked up the beaker, poured the viscous liquid inside into a potion bottle, sealed it with a wooden stopper, and placed it on the table behind him.
Fifteen potion bottles stood in a row across the solid wooden tabletop, gleaming enchantingly under the bright yellow lamplight.
A faint smile appeared on Sunan's face as he looked at the potions before him.
These fifteen bottles were the results of his work over the past few days.
The materials used had cost over 150 Gold Coins.
But it had all been worth it.
Steadying himself, Sunan placed the potions into the Synthesis Cube one by one.
As the number of potions increased, the information displayed on the synthesis interface to the right kept changing.
When the number reached three bottles, the synthesized Lesser Activity Potion changed from "Tier 0/Low Grade" to "Tier 0/Mid Grade."
When the number reached seven bottles, it changed again to "Tier 0/High Grade."
Sunan did not stop, continuing to add Lesser Activity Potions.
When he placed the twelfth bottle inside, the synthesis interface suddenly flashed, and the potion that appeared finally took on a different form.
Activity Potion (First Tier/Low Grade). After consumption, greatly increases mental activity, extends meditation time, duration: 30 days and 12 hours. Repeated consumption has no effect. The consumer's Spirit Power must be at least 5.
Compared to the Lesser Activity Potion, the description of the Activity Potion added the words "greatly" to its effect of increasing mental activity.
It also gained the effect of "extending meditation time," which was essentially an indirect increase in meditation efficiency.
What made Sunan frown, however, was that its duration had only doubled.
The consumption restriction at the end, on the other hand, did not surprise him.
Most tiered potions came with consumption restrictions.
And the higher the tier, the harsher the restrictions.
Such restrictions generally concerned Spirit Power.
If someone with insufficient Spirit Power forcibly consumed a potion, the mild outcome would be mental derangement and soul damage. The severe outcome would be turning into some bizarre thing, or even exploding to death.
After pondering for a moment, Sunan placed the remaining three Lesser Activity Potions into the cube.
Perhaps because the quantity was too small, the synthesis quality did not change this time.
Seeing that, Sunan took the three bottles back out and then chose to synthesize them.
In an instant, an Activity Potion appeared in his palm.
Without hesitation, Sunan swallowed it on the spot.
The description alone could not reveal much, so he intended to experience the effects of a first-tier potion for himself.
As the potion entered his stomach, Sunan felt his mind suddenly sharpen. The entire world seemed to become much clearer in an instant, like changing from low resolution to high resolution.
Without wasting time, Sunan immediately sat down where he was and began meditating.
Who knew how much time passed before he suddenly opened his eyes. He immediately looked at the clock on the wall and was surprised to find that nearly four hours had passed. It was already dark outside.
"My meditation time has doubled."
Sunan opened his panel and was delighted to find that his Spirit Power had increased by 0.09.
The Star Ring Meditation had gained 68 proficiency points in one go.
"My Spirit Power growth is a little less than expected, but the efficiency of proficiency gain is more than six times what it was before."
Sunan quickly calculated inwardly.
Meditating with an Activity Potion for one month would likely yield slightly more than meditating with twelve Lesser Activity Potions for six months. The difference in results was not especially obvious.
But the time required was vastly different.
For Wizard Apprentices with limited lifespans, it was obvious which option was more beneficial.
"This is the irreplaceable advantage of precious resources. They can increase Spirit Power faster and enable faster breakthroughs in rank."
"If I can keep using Activity Potions, I'll only need a little over forty days to construct the second Star Ring. In less than a year, I'll definitely advance to a Second Class Wizard Apprentice!"
Sunan was overjoyed.
After advancing to a Second Class Wizard Apprentice, many previously restricted methods would become available to him. His combat strength would also improve significantly, giving him the power to truly establish himself in this world.
"Should I continue synthesizing and improve the quality of the Activity Potion?"
After hesitating, Sunan ultimately dismissed the thought.
There was certainly no loss in synthesizing it, but higher-quality Activity Potions would surely have higher Spirit Power requirements.
If he ended up creating a potion he could not consume at his current stage, it would be too wasteful.
Although the financial pressure on Blackstone City had greatly eased, he still did not have much money to squander freely.
"A first-tier low-grade Activity Potion should be more or less enough until I advance to a Second Class Wizard Apprentice."
Time entered Thunder Moon (April), and the weather remained scorching hot.
The serfs in the villages around Blackstone City gradually finished planting their crops, and the farming season was nearing its end.
More manpower was steadily transferred out and put into rebuilding the Blackstone Mining Area.
The Blackstone Mining Area was expected to be fully rebuilt by the end of the month.
However, unwilling to waste time, Kei had decided at the beginning of the month to recruit miners and begin mining ahead of schedule.
Thus, the Blackstone Mining Area immediately began operating at full capacity. Ore was brought up from the underground shafts every day, then fed into furnaces and turned into neatly shaped Blackstone Iron ingots.
The entire Blackstone City was enveloped in a bustling, energetic atmosphere.
Only Sunan's courtyard was an exception, as quiet and peaceful as ever.
Inside the meditation room.
Sunan, seated cross-legged on the floor, suddenly trembled slightly. Then he opened his eyes, a delighted smile appearing on his face.
"I finally constructed the second Star Ring!"
Deep within his Sea of Consciousness, two Star Rings intersected and connected with each other, forming a chain-like shape that radiated a profound and mysterious aura.
Feeling refreshed and joyful, Sunan opened his panel.
Sunan Arnester, human male, 16 years old Spirit Power 10.85/Constitution 5.04 Skills Star Ring Meditation Lv3 (28/10000) Potion Making Lv2 (629/3000) Biological Modification Lv1 (3/1000)
"My Spirit Power increased by 1.21."
Sunan nodded to himself.
His Spirit Power had originally been only 9.64. With the successful construction of the Star Ring, it had instantly broken past the threshold of 10.
At this rate, once he constructed the third Star Ring, his Spirit Power would definitely exceed 12, allowing him to advance to a Second Class Wizard Apprentice.
"My Constitution has also broken past 5."
Sunan clenched his fist.
He had not deliberately strengthened his Constitution, but with prolonged meditation and increasing Spirit Power, it had gradually improved without him realizing it.
By the time he advanced to a Second Class Wizard Apprentice, even if his Constitution could not compare to that of a Formal Knight, it probably would not be far behind.
"The proficiency gain for Level 3 Star Ring Meditation has increased by more than double. Still, with 10,000 proficiency points, I can max it out in half a year at the earliest."
Sunan's gaze swept over the Skills list before settling on Biological Modification at the bottom.
This was a Skill he had only mastered yesterday.
Ever since acquiring Potion Making and Puppet Crafting, Sunan had spent most of his time on those two Skills, only occasionally finding time to raise his Biological Modification learning progress.
However, the Skill had already been more than halfway learned to begin with. After several months of working on it on and off, it had finally reached 100% yesterday and appeared in the Skills list.
"As long as I continue down the path of a wizard, I'll eventually come into contact with Biological Modification. This Skill will come in handy then."
On the other hand, his spell studies were also progressing smoothly.
He had successively mastered the Open Lock, Detect Poison, and Touch of Fatigue spells he acquired later.
The first two needed no explanation; their effects were obvious from their names.
Touch of Fatigue, however, was an offensive spell.
By touching the target, it could inject negative energy into them and cause them to fall into a state of fatigue.
Its practicality could only be called average.
Sunan had learned it only because he had no other spells to choose from.
"I asked Big Brother to collect Wizard Codices and Magical Items earlier. I wonder how that's progressing?"
