Sunan's expression remained cold as he continuously unleashed one Acid Splash after another.
He targeted only the knight-level Blackscale Lizardmen.
In just over a dozen breaths, as many as seven Blackscale Lizardmen had died under his spells.
The Blackscale Lizardmen had already been at a disadvantage, and with Sunan joining the fight, the situation grew increasingly unfavorable for them.
The scales of victory gradually tilted toward Blackstone City.
"Roar!"
Just then, a roar suddenly exploded through the air!
The Blackscale Lizardman Chieftain had noticed Sunan's threat and intended to kill this human with strange powers first.
But the moment it moved, Kei intercepted it.
"Lizard-brain, I'm your opponent!"
Kei sneered and swung his sword.
The power of a Peak Knight, combined with the enhancement of a Brute Force Potion, made the strike tear through the air with a piercing boom.
The Blackscale Lizardman Chieftain's pupils contracted sharply. It did not dare take the blow head-on and hastily retreated, losing its chance to approach Sunan.
"Jiluwa ji."
The Blackscale Lizardman Chieftain uttered a strange, grating sound.
Kei assumed it was cursing in frustration and was about to continue his attack when he suddenly sensed something wrong and snapped his gaze toward Sunan.
At some point, an enormous black shadow had emerged from the rear of the battlefield and was charging straight at Sunan.
Brad spotted the shadow at once. He whirled around, roared angrily, and raised his Blackstone Iron shield to ram the incoming shadow!
Bang!
Amid a deafening thud, Brad was flung away like a kite with its string cut.
The black shadow, meanwhile, merely stumbled back several steps. After shaking its head, it quickly recovered.
Taking advantage of the moment, Sunan finally saw the shadow clearly.
It was a Giant Lizard seven or eight meters long, its entire body covered in hard, dark-red scales.
"I didn't expect these lizard-brains to know how to use a diversion too."
Sunan curled his lip, but there was not the slightest trace of panic on his face.
He had noticed the creature even earlier than Kei and Brad and had already prepared a spell. He immediately cast a Sleep Spell.
This Giant Lizard was clearly a mutant that had awakened the Dragon Lizard Bloodline. It had easily sent Brad, who had taken a Brute Force Potion, flying in a clash of strength. Its combat power had likely reached the level of a Peak Knight. Acid Splash probably would not deal it much damage and might instead stir up its ferocity.
So Sunan decisively chose the Sleep Spell.
The Giant Lizard, just about to charge, suddenly swayed its head and staggered in place as though drunk.
"Is that the strength of a mutant bloodline? It can even resist a Sleep Spell."
Sunan tugged at the corner of his mouth and, without hesitation, took out the Spell Scroll for Level One Summon Monster, activating it instantly.
In an instant, a glowing hexagram array appeared on the ground several meters ahead.
As the light flickered, a creature less than a meter tall appeared out of thin air. Its whole body was wreathed in scorching flames, leaving only a vague humanoid outline visible. It opened its mouth and let out a childlike, cheerful laugh.
"A Fire Sprite? Not bad luck."
A smile appeared at the corner of Sunan's lips.
As its name suggested, Summon Monster could summon creatures from other worlds to obey the caster's commands and assist in battle.
The strength of the summoned otherworldly creature depended on the spell's level, the caster's Spirit Power, and luck.
Level One Summon Monster could summon otherworldly creatures roughly ranging from Intermediate Knight to novice Grand Knight in strength.
The Fire Sprite was a creature from the Fire Elemental Plane, with combat power roughly equivalent to a Peak Knight.
Although he had failed to summon an otherworldly creature at the upper limit of novice Grand Knight level, one at Peak Knight level was already quite good.
At Sunan's command, the Fire Sprite cheered and dashed toward the Giant Lizard, which had yet to regain its senses, wrapping its arms around it.
Almost instantly, the scales touching the Fire Sprite softened and shrank before turning to charred coal.
Scorching flames immediately flared up, searing the flesh beneath the scales with a sizzling sound.
The agonizing pain instantly broke the Giant Lizard free from the lingering effects of the Sleep Spell, and it let out a deafening, miserable scream.
It violently twisted its enormous body and rolled across the ground, extinguishing the flames and throwing off the Fire Sprite. Then it opened its blood-filled maw lined with sharp teeth and viciously bit at the Fire Sprite.
Unfortunately, physical attacks dealt very limited damage to an elemental creature like the Fire Sprite. Its fangs passed straight through the Fire Sprite, inflicting little harm. Instead, the Giant Lizard burned its own mouth on the flames and howled in pain again and again.
The Fire Sprite giggled and pounced again with its arms spread wide.
Burning and Flame Aura!
These were the Fire Sprite's two abilities.
The former allowed any creature touched by the Fire Sprite to suffer intense flame damage. Even metal would melt into slag.
The latter allowed the Fire Sprite to continuously emit high-temperature rays. Every creature within a ten-meter radius of the Fire Sprite would continuously suffer weaker burning damage.
Simply put, the Fire Sprite was a walking source of extreme heat.
Unless one possessed a Magical Item capable of blocking extreme heat, being approached by it meant enduring constant flame damage.
The Giant Lizard clearly had no means of countering the Fire Sprite.
Its scales could not withstand the blazing flames, either.
Under the Fire Sprite's pursuit, the Giant Lizard could only flee in disarray. It no longer retained the imposing, savage demeanor it had displayed upon entering the battle.
Having finally caught his breath, Brad had just climbed to his feet when he looked up and saw this scene. His eyes widened, and he froze in place.
What kind of monster was that?
It could actually suppress that terrifying Giant Lizard!
Not far away, Kei let out a sigh of relief and silently marveled.
As expected of Sunan. His methods were endless.
The Blackscale Lizardmen had chosen him as the target of a sneak attack. It truly was their greatest mistake.
"Giggle, giggle, giggle!"
Joyful laughter intertwined with agonized shrieks, echoing across the battlefield.
Though it desperately dodged to avoid being touched directly by the Fire Sprite, the Fire Sprite's Flame Aura still made the Giant Lizard miserable.
In only a short while, not a single intact scale could be found on the Giant Lizard's body. It was covered in horrifying burns and scorch marks.
After extinguishing the flames on its body once more, the Giant Lizard finally could not endure any longer. It rushed to a spot not far from Sunan, lay on the ground, and continuously bobbed its head. Its amber vertical pupils revealed a humanlike plea, making it seem as though it were begging him for mercy.
"It's quite intelligent."
Sunan clicked his tongue in amazement.
It was rare to encounter such a mutant, and he did not want to kill it just like that. So he stopped the Fire Sprite's pursuit and casually cast another Sleep Spell.
The heavily wounded Giant Lizard could no longer resist the Sleep Spell's effects. Its eyelids fluttered a few times before it sank into a deep sleep the next second.
Out of caution, Sunan did not stop there. He patted the Blackrock Panther beside him and had it move forward to pin down the Giant Lizard. Then he pressed a hand against the Giant Lizard's body and cast another Touch of Fatigue, draining all its energy and ensuring that the big fellow had completely lost its fighting ability.
Only after finishing all this did he shift his attention away from the Giant Lizard and turn toward the battlefield.
At that moment, every surviving Blackscale Lizardman felt a chill shoot straight up its spine.
Under their utterly horrified gazes, that terrifying flame monster cheered and charged toward them.
