Advancing to a Level Two Wizard Apprentice
The Month of Blazing Fire, when the sun strode across the land.
The scorching weather left people irritable and drained.
Yet the inner keep was filled with celebration.
After taking four bottles of Dragon Blood Potion in succession, Kei successfully broke through and became a Grand Knight!
If knights were the backbone and elite fighting force of a territory, then Grand Knights were the pillars that held it up.
No matter the nation, Grand Knights were unquestionably high-level combatants.
A Grand Knight who had mastered Aura Emission was a tank-like beast of war on the battlefield, unstoppable in every direction.
With Kei's advancement to Grand Knight, the shadow cast over Blackstone City by Shining City seemed to have dissipated considerably.
The celebratory mood outside did not affect Sunan.
With only a little over two hundred proficiency points left before the Star Ring Meditation could level up, he shut himself inside the meditation room, instructed everyone not to disturb him, and focused on preparing for his advancement.
Three days later.
Sunan sat cross-legged on the floor, his eyes tightly shut.
Deep within his Sea of Consciousness, specks of Energy Particles flowed into the third phantom star ring, filling in its final trace of illusion.
The instant the entire star ring completely solidified, an unprecedented tremor surged over him like a tidal wave, instantly drowning his consciousness.
In the soundless stillness, Sunan felt as though he were drifting through a boundless galactic cosmos. Invisible currents of warmth washed over him from within and without, and the indescribable, supreme bliss brought by the sublimation of his life essence filled every inch of his body.
After an unknown amount of time, Sunan slowly came back to his senses and opened his eyes.
It was as though a layer of murky dust had been wiped from the world before him, and everything suddenly became much clearer.
"Is this what advancement feels like?"
Intense delight surged within Sunan, and he hurriedly opened his panel.
Sunan Arnester, human male, 17 years old Spirit Power: 13.25 / Physique: 12.02 Skills Star Ring Meditation Lv4 (3/20000) Potion Making Lv2 (2641/3000) Biological Modification Lv1 (527/1000) Puppet Crafting Lv2 (816/3000)
"Spirit Power increased by 1.27. That's a little less than I expected, but it makes sense. My original Spirit Power was already close to 12."
"My physique didn't change much either. It increased by less than 0.5."
A heartfelt smile appeared on Sunan's face.
From this moment onward, he was a Level Two Wizard Apprentice!
On the present-day Starlight Continent, a Level Two Wizard Apprentice undoubtedly qualified as a powerhouse!
He had taken another solid step on the path toward becoming a wizard.
Taking a deep breath, Sunan calmed the surging emotions in his heart and began examining the improvements brought by this advancement.
The most obvious change was that his casting speed had increased.
The casting preparation time for spells like Mage Hand, Acid Splash, and Sleep Spell had been reduced by roughly a third.
A mere increase of one or two points in Spirit Power was clearly not enough to produce such an effect.
Sunan guessed that reaching 12 points of Spirit Power had crossed some kind of threshold, turning quantitative change into qualitative change and causing such a noticeable reduction in casting time.
It might only have reduced casting time by one-third, but in a rapidly changing battle, even the blink of an eye could alter the course of victory and defeat.
For Wizard Apprentices, casting time was equivalent to life.
"Metamagic techniques like Silent Casting and Instant Spell can only be learned after advancing to a Level Three Wizard Apprentice. At this stage, reducing casting preparation time to around one second is probably the limit."
The second change was his control over Energy Particles.
Snap!
Sunan snapped his fingers, and a pale blue glow suddenly lit up around his body.
A layer of moisture appeared out of thin air, soaking him from head to toe.
Then a fiery red glow rose around him, and wisps of white vapor curled upward. In the blink of an eye, the water evaporated, leaving him refreshed and dry.
After advancing to a Level Two Wizard Apprentice and undergoing a qualitative change in Spirit Power, Sunan could now initially control Energy Particles and use their properties to achieve effects nearly equivalent to spells.
For example, he could use Water Element Energy Particles and Fire Element Energy Particles to clean his body.
Beyond that, Energy Particles could also be used in battle.
Sunan extended his palm. A flash of azure light flickered across it, and the next second, with a crackling sound, countless tiny arcs of electricity appeared from thin air, wrapping around his palm as they flickered and danced.
The lightning then transformed into blazing flames, followed by howling gusts, pure white frost, sinister black shadows, and various other elements appearing in succession.
Level Two Wizard Apprentices could materialize Energy Particles into physical elements to attack, or attach them to weapons or their own bodies to grant various elemental properties.
For instance, Fire Element Energy Particles could be attached to a weapon to add fire damage.
Wind Element Energy Particles could be attached to the body to make it lighter and more agile.
The possibilities were endless.
This was also why Level Two Wizard Apprentices were far more powerful in combat than Level 1 Wizard Apprentices.
Even without using spells, a Level Two Wizard Apprentice's already formidable physique, combined with the support of Energy Particles, was enough to crush knights of any rank.
With spells added to the equation, they could even contend head-on with a Grand Knight.
Not to mention that Level Two Wizard Apprentices could also use Magical Items and contract Magic Pets.
At the thought of Magical Items, Sunan's expression shifted as he looked at the Blood Vine Ring on his index finger, which he had worn ever since bringing it out of the Blackstone Mining Area.
Previously, he could only sense the Energy Particles contained within the ring but could not mobilize them.
But now, with a single thought, he could activate the ring's magical properties at any time.
Given the Blood Vine Ring's power, it was enough to become one of his trump cards.
"There are also Energy Runes. I can now create Energy Rune Gems."
"And I need to put getting a Magic Pet on the agenda as well."
Magic Pets were a type of Magical Creature. They were originally ordinary animals, exotic beasts, or mutants possessing special bloodlines. Only after forming a contract with a wizard and awakening special abilities did they transform into Magic Pets.
Magic Pets were divided into support-type and combat-type.
Support-Type Familiars were mostly various spirit creatures, such as fairies and sprites.
Most Magic Pets of this kind possessed powerful affinity with plants and could naturally communicate with magical plants, making them well suited to serve as gardeners for cultivating magical plants.
Some Magic Pets were also used by Wizard Apprentices as laboratory assistants.
Combat-Type Familiars came in a much greater variety.
From small animals such as bats, cats, lizards, owls, snakes, and toads, to fierce exotic beasts comparable to knights, all could be transformed into combat-type Magic Pets and assist Wizard Apprentices in killing enemies during battle.
A small number of powerful Magic Pets could even become a Wizard Apprentice's trump card against formidable foes, and their importance could not be underestimated.
"The stronger the creature itself, the more powerful it will be after being transformed into a Magic Pet."
"For my first Magic Pet contract, I need to choose the target carefully."
Wait!
Sunan suddenly remembered something.
Speaking of suitable transformation targets, wasn't there one in the courtyard right now?
That Giant Lizard Mutant!
Sunan's eyes immediately lit up.
A mutant possessing the Dragon Lizard Bloodline—if it were transformed into a Magic Pet, it would definitely become another powerful combat asset in his hands!
It was worth a try!
