By Autumn Curtain Month (October), Blackstone City had taken on a touch of bleakness.
Although there was still some time before the first snowfall, the air had already turned bitterly cold, no longer carrying the heat of Harvest Month.
Four armored men walked along the road in the inner castle's front courtyard, their breath forming faint white mist in the air.
The three younger men walking behind them all wore barely concealed excitement and anticipation, as though something wonderful was about to happen.
After walking for a while, one of them finally could not help asking Jordan ahead of them, "Sir Jordan, is there anything we need to pay attention to when taking the Lesser Dragon Blood Potion?"
Jordan glanced back at the young man and waved a hand carelessly. "Look at how nervous you are. Nearly a hundred people have taken the Lesser Dragon Blood Potion before you, and no one's had any problems. Just relax."
The young man scratched his head sheepishly. "I'm not worried. I'm just excited. After all, once I drink that potion, I'll become a knight!"
The other two nodded eagerly as well.
After all, they were talking about knights!
Knights—the battlefield beasts and noble reserves!
They had trained tirelessly for years in the hope of becoming knights within their lifetimes and bringing honor to their families. Yet they had never expected that dream to come true so soon.
Even now, they still felt as though they were dreaming.
"Haha, I understand how you feel. A year ago, I never would have imagined there could be a potion in this world that allowed an Apprentice Knight to break through directly and become a knight. We have Sir Sunan to thank for all of this!"
At the mention of Sunan, Jordan's tone was full of respect.
The three young men instinctively revealed expressions of awe and admiration as well.
Although all information about Sir Sunan was tightly sealed within Blackstone City, every knight and Apprentice Knight who had taken or was about to take the Lesser Dragon Blood Potion knew how much Sir Sunan had contributed behind the scenes to Blackstone City's current development.
Even the establishment of the Blackrock Cavalry Regiment could be said to have been brought about single-handedly by Sir Sunan.
In the hearts of Blackstone City's knights and Apprentice Knights, Sir Sunan's status was no lower than that of the Lord.
"In any case, don't be too nervous. Once you see the Lord, take the potion, and drink it, that'll be that."
Before Jordan could finish reassuring them, a chill suddenly swept across his back, as though something had brushed past him from behind in an instant. Goosebumps rose across his skin.
He stopped instinctively and looked around, but found nothing unusual.
"Did you see anything?" Jordan turned and asked the three men.
The three shook their heads blankly.
"Damn it, did I drink too much last night? Is my head still not clear?"
Jordan patted his head and muttered a few words before quickly putting the matter out of his mind and continuing to lead the way.
Before long, the four arrived at the Training Field.
From a distance, Jordan saw the Lord and Brad standing at the entrance to the Training Field, seemingly discussing something.
Three large wooden barrels stood nearby as well.
Only when he drew closer did Jordan see that the barrels were filled with pale red liquid.
He could also smell a familiar, pungent odor.
It was the scent of the Lesser Dragon Blood Potion!
"Are these all Lesser Dragon Blood Potions?"
Jordan was startled, but he quickly realized that the smell in the air was too faint. It did not seem like the real potion, but rather diluted medicinal liquid.
"Move the barrels to the Military Camp. Every warrior who has reached Knight Attendant level is to drink one bowl a day. Officers get an additional bowl each day."
Seeing Jordan arrive with the others, Kei gave Brad an instruction, then waved him away. He turned to Jordan and the rest, his gaze lingering on the three young men.
"Lord!"
The three bowed in unison.
Kei nodded solemnly and looked at Jordan.
"Only three in this batch?"
Jordan nodded. "The rest are Apprentice Knights who only broke through recently. Sir Sunan said it would be best to wait a while longer, until they've stabilized their strength before taking the potion."
Hearing that it was Sunan's instruction, Kei said nothing further and took out three Lesser Dragon Blood Potions.
What followed was simple. The three young men took the potions on the spot.
Two of them broke through and became knights immediately. Although the remaining one did not break through, based on past experience, he would likewise complete his advancement after cultivating for several days.
After offering a few words of encouragement to the three newly advanced knights, Kei signaled Jordan to take them away. He then left the Training Field himself and headed toward the main building.
Ever since the battle that wiped out the Blackscale Lizardmen, Blackstone City had entered a period of rapid development.
The number of knights had skyrocketed.
Blackstone City now had more than a hundred knights in total.
Across the entire Starry Sky Principality, only the territories of viscounts and higher-ranking nobles could accumulate so many knights after centuries of development and inheritance!
For Blackstone City, a single city, to possess a number of knights comparable to a viscount's territory—if word got out, countless people would be left dumbfounded.
"Unfortunately, all the blood obtained from wiping out the Blackscale Lizardmen has been used up. From now on, we can only slowly draw blood from the prisoners. Sunan will have to slow down his production of potions as well."
"But that's not necessarily a bad thing. We used a little too much Lesser Dragon Blood Potion recently, and there's already a gap among the army's Apprentice Knights. This is a good chance to train more Apprentice Knights."
Kei recalled the Dragon Blood Potion Sunan had recently developed.
Its effects far surpassed those of the Lesser Dragon Blood Potion. Just four bottles had allowed him to cross the threshold countless knights dreamed of reaching and step into the Grand Knight level. It was simply miraculous!
The only regret was that its production was extremely limited.
So far, apart from him, only a handful of Advanced Knights such as Brad had taken it and advanced to Peak Knights.
"Unfortunately, what Blackstone City lacks most right now is time. Otherwise, if I had a few years to develop, reclaiming Shining Territory would be effortless."
As he pondered this, Kei suddenly saw the old butler Geller passing by with six or seven servants. The group grunted with effort as they carried several skinned sheep.
Old Geller soon noticed Kei as well and hurriedly stopped to bow.
"Lord."
Kei gave a grunt of acknowledgment and pointed at the sheep. "Where are you taking these?"
Old Geller replied, "To Sir Sunan's courtyard."
Kei quickly remembered that Sunan's courtyard seemed to house a Giant Lizard captured from the Blackscale Lizardmen Tribe. It needed quite a lot of meat every day.
However—
His gaze swept over the three sheep, and he felt somewhat puzzled.
Had that Giant Lizard's appetite grown considerably?
He clearly remembered Jordan saying before that it seemed to need only one sheep a day.
Curious though he was, Kei did not ask further. He waved a hand and let Old Geller and the others leave.
Most things related to wizards carried an air of mystery and strangeness that outsiders found difficult to understand.
He had no interest in investigating further. All he needed to do was continue supporting Sunan as he always had.
After all, Sunan's strength was Blackstone City's strength!
