The soul was a vessel, and the energy it contained was soul energy. When transformed into a tangible form, it became a Soul Crystal.
In the eyes of many wizards, soul energy was the most versatile energy in the multiverse.
Even elemental energy had many creatures that could not absorb it.
Soul energy, however, was different. There were almost no creatures incapable of absorbing and using it.
Soul energy could be said to be the most widely useful energy in the multiverse.
A Soul Crystal was the product of a soul dispersing after death, a condensation of soul energy.
Unfortunately, Soul Crystals were difficult to form naturally. Only certain special beings would drop raw Soul Crystals.
Most of the time, wizards acquired Soul Crystals through artificial means.
To artificially create a Soul Crystal, a vessel had to be prepared.
The vessels wizards used most often were all kinds of gemstones.
What Sunan was doing now was artificially creating a Soul Crystal.
Accompanied by shrill, unwilling screeches, one wraith after another was drawn into the gemstone, whose color gradually shifted toward gray.
In just a few moments, all the vengeful souls around Sunan had been swept away.
"Any more?"
Sunan looked expectantly at the evil spirit.
This handful of vengeful souls was not enough to completely transform the gemstone into a Soul Crystal.
Seemingly enraged by Sunan's gaze, the evil spirit let out a shriek and raised a hand, unleashing a Negative Energy Impact.
Unfortunately, it was blocked by the Shield Spell the moment it reached Sunan.
Seeing this, the evil spirit simply lifted off the ground and lunged at Sunan.
"Is that all the vengeful souls you have?"
Sunan frowned in dissatisfaction. Then, without even looking at the charging evil spirit, he uttered a series of complex, obscure syllables.
He currently had three layers of protection on him.
The Shield Spell, Energy Particles, and the Protection Ring.
He also held an Earth Rune Gem in his palm, ready to activate it at any moment.
There was no need to worry that the evil spirit could break through his defenses in a short time.
Sure enough.
By the time he had prepared his spell, the evil spirit's hands, covered in sharp claws, had not even managed to break through the shield.
Magic Missile!
Three fist-sized missiles shot forth, piercing the evil spirit's illusory body like bullets. It immediately let out an incomparably miserable shriek, and its body visibly dimmed by several degrees.
Sunan's expression did not change as he calmly cast a second Magic Missile.
Their battle instantly reached a fever pitch.
The evil spirit completely abandoned defense—indeed, it had no means of defending itself—and continually changed directions as it charged around Sunan, determined to break through the interception and tear his body apart. Unfortunately, the shield blocked it every time.
Sunan, meanwhile, focused solely on casting Magic Missile.
By the time the evil spirit finally tore through the invisible shield before it, it had already been hit by four Magic Missiles in succession. Its already semi-transparent body had become even more illusory, as though it might dissipate at any moment.
Only then did the evil spirit realize something was wrong and try to flee.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Sunan released the fifth Magic Missile he had prepared, then raised the gemstone in his hand.
Having been struck by another three Magic Missiles, the evil spirit had no time to recover before an immense invisible force pulled it toward the gemstone.
Though it struggled wildly, it still could not resist the gemstone's siphoning power. In the end, its entire soul was drawn into the gemstone.
As the soul entered, the gemstone's color completely changed, becoming a gray crystal!
"It worked!"
A trace of delight appeared on Sunan's face.
Under normal circumstances, he would need at least dozens of knight souls to create even the lowest-grade Soul Crystal.
However, with his current Spirit Power, he was still unable to extract souls from corpses. He could only rely on certain Magical Items or arrays—unfortunately, he had neither.
Vengeful souls and evil spirits were much simpler. After beating them down and weakening their power, he could directly absorb them by force.
One evil spirit was enough to equal twenty or thirty knight souls.
Putting away the crystal, Sunan looked up at the Bloody Mandala not far away.
The evil spirit was essentially a freely moving avatar formed from nearly all of the Bloody Mandala's condensed power, unrestricted by the flower's body.
As a result, with the evil spirit's destruction, the Bloody Mandala also suffered a severe blow and visibly withered.
Even its size had shrunk drastically, leaving it less than twenty centimeters tall.
When Sunan pulled the Bloody Mandala from the ground, it let out a sharp, ear-piercing scream and struggled violently in an attempt to burrow back underground. But in its weakened state, it ultimately could not resist Sunan's strength and was forcibly stuffed into a Silver Plated Box.
A Spirit Sealing Array was engraved on the box's surface, capable of suppressing the Bloody Mandala's leaking Spirit Power.
As long as the box was not opened, the Bloody Mandala could not cause trouble.
After finishing everything, Sunan clapped his hands and looked around.
With the evil spirit that had occupied the estate eliminated and the Bloody Mandala sealed away, the mandalas throughout the estate began to wither and die in large patches.
Before long, the surroundings returned to normal. Aside from being somewhat rundown, there was nothing unusual to be seen.
In reality, however, quite a few Negative Energy Particles still lingered in the air. The place could not be inhabited for the time being. If left to dissipate naturally, it would probably take four or five months to return to normal levels.
Of course, if a Wizard Apprentice purified the area, it could return to normal in a few days.
But Sunan had no intention of doing work without payment.
Honestly, one thousand Gold Coins for eliminating an evil spirit was already very cheap.
If not for the Bloody Mandala and the Soul Crystal, he would not even have accepted this kind of job.
Outside the estate.
The Silver Moon Viscount paced back and forth, occasionally looking up at the estate, unable to hide the anxiety on his face.
Not long after Sunan entered the estate, raging flames had suddenly erupted inside, followed by a succession of shrieks that made his heart tremble.
He wanted to bring men inside to investigate, but he did not dare take the risk.
A fine layer of sweat had formed on his forehead from the worry.
Fortunately, it was not long before Sunan emerged from the estate.
"Lord Anger."
The Silver Moon Viscount immediately went forward to greet him, seemingly wanting to speak but hesitating.
Sunan said indifferently, "That evil spirit has been eliminated."
Upon hearing this, the Silver Moon Viscount finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"There are still many Negative Energy Particles left in the estate. Do not live there for the next half year," Sunan added.
The Silver Moon Viscount hurriedly nodded to show his understanding.
In fact, even without Sunan's warning, he would never grant this estate to anyone again.
After something so bizarre had happened, the estate would likely be sealed off and abandoned from now on.
But it did not matter. As long as Stone Bell City was unaffected, he would not feel too distressed over a mere estate.
"It is all thanks to Lord Anger this time. I have already ordered a banquet prepared. Please do us the honor."
The Silver Moon Viscount spoke with great enthusiasm.
Having finally encountered such a powerful wizard, he was naturally reluctant to let him leave so easily.
If he could recruit Sunan to his territory, he would be more than willing to grant him even an entire town.
But to the Silver Moon Viscount's disappointment, Sunan refused without a second thought.
"No need. I still have matters to attend to."
With that, Sunan left without looking back, not waiting for the Silver Moon Viscount to respond.
At that moment, a guard ran over from the distance and passed by him.
Sunan had not gone far, and his sharp hearing allowed him to clearly catch the guard's low report to the Silver Moon Viscount.
"My lord, the Shining Baron has declared war on Blackstone City!"
