Arrow stepped onto the newly appeared path. His vision suddenly blurred for a moment, and all the surrounding shadows vanished at once. When he regained his senses, he found himself standing inside an old, low, dim wooden cabin.
A low wooden table stood in the center of the cabin. A bowl had been simply placed upon it, with a candle as thick as two fingers set inside. The wavering flame cast a pale yellow halo, illuminating the shabby wooden cabin.
Clap, clap, clap!
Amid the applause, Desi's excited voice rang out. "Little Brother Arrow, you really have become my junior."
"Big Brother Desi?" Arrow turned around in confusion. "Why are you here?"
"If he hadn't been nagging in my ear all this time, I wouldn't have taken you in."
A hoarse voice suddenly sounded. Arrow turned toward it and only then noticed that beside Desi stood a small, hunched wizard.
Desi hurriedly explained, "Arrow, this is Lady Margaret, the Void Spirit Witch."
Mother had mentioned Void Spirit Wizards as well.
So-called Void Spirit Wizards were not actually Formal Wizards. No Wizard Academy would be so extravagant as to throw a Formal Wizard into this "useless" recruitment city to waste their time.
Most of them had experiences similar to Monli's. They had absorbed the core of an Anomaly Space, causing the Anomaly Space to merge with them.
After recruiting them, the Wizard Academy would continuously clear out and collect the unique items within the Anomaly Space. Once their bodies could no longer bear it, the Wizard Academy would help them completely extract the Anomaly Space.
At that point, Jungle Home would bestow upon them the title of "Void Spirit Wizard."
Within Jungle Home, the title of "Void Spirit Wizard" granted treatment equivalent to that of a Formal Wizard. It was also a recognition of their lifelong contributions.
Though these Void Spirit Wizards bore the title of Formal Wizards, they had been drained for so long and had so little time for wizardly study that, while they might possess a few strange abilities, they found it difficult even to reach the level of an Advanced Wizard Apprentice.
Lady Margaret's face was covered in wrinkles, making it impossible to distinguish her gender. Arrow could only follow Desi's introduction and hurriedly bowed respectfully. "Thank you very much for taking me in, Lady Margaret."
The Void Spirit Witch Margaret hunched over her cane and slowly walked to Arrow's side. Her deep-set eyes looked him over from head to toe.
"Knowing full well that you were no match for those pirates, you still charged out. If the shipboard wizard hadn't happened to act at that moment, you would have been dead for certain!"
"Though foolish, you truly are a lucky boy."
Lucky that the shipboard wizard had acted?
Arrow smiled faintly and did not argue.
"Enough. Give me your Two-Leaf Nameplate, and I'll handle your enrollment procedures."
"Thank you for the trouble." Arrow respectfully handed over his Metal Post.
The Void Spirit Witch Margaret took the post and shuffled toward the wooden table in the middle. Desi hurriedly pulled over a short stool from the side and placed it beside the table.
The Void Spirit Witch Margaret sat down on it naturally and praised him, "Little Desi is as considerate as ever."
Desi smiled bashfully and stepped aside.
Opening the Two-Leaf Nameplate, Margaret tapped the words "Arrow Garner" with one finger. The two-leaf Metal Post gave off a faint glow.
The words "Arrow Garner" swiftly floated up, twisting in mid-air before quickly forming a new line of text.
"Energy Perception: Second Grade. Mental Strength: Excellent (reaches the level of an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice)."
After glancing at the special lettering Nicole had written, ranging from "Oh ho, what a piece of trash" to "My heavens, that's incredible," the Void Spirit Witch Margaret raised her head in slight surprise.
"No wonder you made such a serious mistake yet still received a Two-Leaf Nameplate. It only said that your Mental Strength surpassed that of ordinary people. I never expected your Mental Strength to have actually reached the level of an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice."
The Reason Why Arrow's Mental Strength had reached its current level was actually the result of many factors.
First, while still in the womb for ten months, he had already begun thinking constantly and training his brain.
Second, he had begun exercising from a young age, strengthening his body. Only a strong body could nourish powerful Mental Strength.
Third, from the age of five, he had directly faced the Evil God Scroll, using the Mental Pressure of the Evil God Scroll to train himself.
He also possessed memories from his past life. Back then, he had perseverance far beyond that of an ordinary child. Moreover, because he had a system, he firmly believed that his future would surely be extraordinary. Every day, he defeated dozens of peers several times over, training himself while reinforcing his conviction.
Only then had he been able to sustain himself and persist in viewing the Evil God Scroll every day.
Thus, his Mental Strength at the level of an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice had come as naturally as water flowing downhill.
If Arrow's Mental Strength had not reached the Intermediate Wizard Apprentice level, weakening the effect of the Evil God Scroll's Mental Pressure, his Mental Strength might have become even stronger!
After all, he had effectively undergone five years of Mental Strength training!
Five years—in a Wizard Academy, many students with decent aptitude and ample resources might have become Intermediate Wizard Apprentices by then, rather than merely having their Mental Strength Meet Standards.
After the Void Spirit Witch Margaret transferred Arrow's information into the Crystal Ball, she tapped the Desktop several times. A small section of the wooden tabletop sank, revealing a recessed metal mechanism.
The Two-Leaf Nameplate was placed into one of the grooves. The fine lines covering the groove immediately lit up with a faint glow, making it look somewhat like certain technological objects.
Yet within that light, the two-leaf Metal Post gradually dissolved and shrank. The lines depicting two warriors locked in combat began to move, piecing themselves together into Owl Academy's Identification Badge.
"Done. Be sure to keep this card safe. If you accidentally lose it, you'll need one Magic Stone to have it replaced."
"Thank you very much for your help, Lady Margaret."
Arrow carefully accepted it and tucked it away close to his body.
"Alright, go take the Airship."
"Lady Margaret, I had already arranged with Senior Desi to return with him, so there's no need to trouble you, right?"
The lesson of the Death Assessment was still vivid in his mind. Arrow had no desire to pay so-called fare with his own life.
"You're sure you won't ride it?" The Void Spirit Witch Margaret raised her head and looked at Arrow with a mocking smile.
Desi hurriedly spoke up to explain, "Arrow, you've only just arrived on this continent. Your bodies will absorb the Void Energy drifting through the air, and you could easily stray into an Anomaly Space. It's best to take the Airship."
"Don't worry. This ride is free, and it's also one of the benefits of joining the academy."
Only then did Arrow understand.
Right—he was no longer aboard the Cargo Ship covered in Magic Pattern Arrays. Once he truly left Raphael City, he would face high concentrations of Void Energy directly. His Mental Strength would surely be stirred, and he could easily stray into an Anomaly Space.
Arrow nodded slightly to Desi in gratitude, then immediately changed his tune. "No, no, Lady Margaret. I'll take the Airship."
"Mm."
Lady Margaret continued sorting the items on the table and gave her order without turning around. "Desi, take him to the Airship."
