Ksitigarbha possessed great compassion. To save the beings of the Underworld, he was willing to relinquish the readily attainable exalted position of Fengdu Emperor.
In that light, Ksitigarbha might have been the best inheritor of the Buddhist School's will.
Yet he was also the least qualified inheritor!
As a member of the Buddhist School, he did not seek benefits for the Buddhist School. Though it benefited all living beings, it brought no benefit to the Buddhist School.
Such a Ksitigarbha was naturally unqualified.
Amitabha Buddha and Zhun Ti Buddha-Mother sighed. Perhaps they had made the wrong choice back then and should not have sent Ksitigarbha to guard the Underworld.
Perhaps he should have remained within the Buddhist School.
Goddess Pingxin mocked, "This disciple of yours possesses even greater compassion than the two of you, and he is far more upright as well."
Amitabha Buddha and Zhun Ti Buddha-Mother remained unmoved. The two of them had run rampant through the Primordial World on the strength of their thick skins for so many years. They would not lose composure and fall into disgrace merely because of a taunt from Goddess Pingxin.
Zhun Ti Buddha-Mother even gave a cold chuckle. "Goddess Pingxin, you should worry about yourself."
"Our disciple is not someone Your Ladyship needs to concern yourself with."
"Your Ladyship is trapped within the Six Paths of Reincarnation Plate and can barely wield a tenth or even a fifth of your strength. You are certainly no match for the two of us. Hand Maitreya's soul over quickly, lest the living beings of the Underworld suffer devastation."
Goddess Pingxin's gaze suddenly turned cold. "Bald donkey, are you threatening me?"
"I wouldn't dare. It can hardly be called a threat. I am merely pointing out the path ahead for Your Ladyship."
