Dr. Shepherd hurried over to watch the show.
After thinking it over, Adam followed as well.

Watching the fun was one thing. Getting dragged into this kind of melodramatic family mess was another.
"Are you staying at the hospital tonight?" Melissa asked tentatively.
"No." Adam shook his head. "Tonight is Thanksgiving. I'm heading back soon to celebrate."
"Could you leave a little later?" Melissa said disappointedly. "Keep Charlotte company a while longer..."
"Aren't you keeping her company?" Adam did not take the bait. "I just saw your fiancé bringing things over to decorate her room."
"...He left." Melissa's gaze dimmed.
"What a shame. Why?" Adam asked in surprise.
"I need to take care of Charlotte, and I haven't had the heart to plan a wedding." Melissa shook her head, raised her bare left hand, and said calmly, "He couldn't take it anymore. We had a huge fight, and I gave him back the engagement ring."
"Don't act on impulse," Adam reminded her. "He seems pretty decent."
