Leonard stared in disbelief, instinctively unwilling to accept the feeling of having his rose-colored glasses shattered all over the floor.
Before, with those glasses on, all he could think about was blah blah blah.

But now that Adam had opened his eyes, he realized those jokes represented the ugly side of a doctor with no medical ethics, and it made his conscience uneasy.
A doctor who left an earring inside a patient after surgery, then immediately destroyed the evidence and slipped away once she discovered it—her medical ethics were obvious enough from that alone.
