520 Apartment.

"Hey, how did things go with Carol?"

Early in the morning, Adam had just gotten up and was sitting at the dining table waiting for Monica's breakfast when he saw Ross push open the door and walk in. Curious, he asked.

"Uh, so-so."

Ross waved his hand awkwardly, clearly unwilling to discuss it in depth.

"What does 'so-so' mean?"

Monica, wearing an apron, looked over as well.

"I guess there's no hope left for our marriage."

Ross rolled his eyes, thought for a moment, then spread his hands.

"What?!"

Monica cried, "She really gave up seven years with you to become a lesbian?"

"Don't get worked up."

Watching Monica wave the kitchen knife around, Adam reminded her, "The outcome wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. At least Ross has come to terms with it, right?"

"Has he?"

Monica put the knife back on the cutting board and looked at Ross in confusion. "Carol did that, and you've come to terms with it?"

"It doesn't matter whether I have or not..."

Ross's mouth twitched. His words were perfunctory, but the scene of his absurd proposal being firmly rejected surfaced in his mind.

In truth, the instant those words left his mouth, he had regretted them. The proposal had been utterly ridiculous and somewhat shameless, yet it had carried a faint trace of hope.

But after Carol and Susan rejected him and he left the apartment, most of the anguish and conflict he had felt before somehow vanished.

As for demanding to know why Carol and Susan had cheated on him and cuckolded him?
