Old Bai's Brother-in-law, the Texas tough guy who had stayed behind, immediately answered it and put it on speaker, holding the phone beside Adam.
"What's the situation?"
Adam asked.
"His left pupil is dilated, his right pupil is enlarged, he's convulsing all over, and he's lost consciousness."
Cristina's voice came through the phone.
"Possible brain herniation."
Adam made the diagnosis at once, then asked, "Has the emergency team arrived?"
"Not yet."
Cristina looked around and shook her head. "What should we do now? Are you coming over?"

Adam continued treating the critically ill patient. He glanced at Old Bai's Brother-in-law, who was staring at him expectantly, then continued into the phone, "You need to perform cranial drilling surgery on Rick at the scene, relieve the intracranial pressure, and clear the blood buildup."
"What?!"
Cristina's voice abruptly rose on the other end. "You're not joking, are you? Performing cranial drilling surgery on him here?"
