Medical Center.
Outside the emergency entrance.
An ambulance came speeding in.
Two taxis followed close behind.
"What happened?"
Even though Adam had mentally prepared himself, when the ambulance doors opened and he saw the scene on the gurney being wheeled out, he was still stunned speechless.
"Brooke Boyd, female, thirty-two. Broken nasal bridge, facial injuries, scalp avulsion. Vital signs stable."
The paramedic was having a hard time holding it in.
"And Phoebe Buffay, female, thirty-two. Dislocated shoulder, thigh injury. Vital signs stable."
"She ripped out my hair!"
"She broke my shoulder!"
"You broke your own shoulder when you shoved me off the stage!"
The two were like mortal enemies. Even injured this badly, they were still screaming at each other. Yet they were lying on the same gurney, tightly tangled together and still locked in fighting positions.
Between them was a bloodstained white wedding dress, which they both clutched tightly, neither willing to let go.
"Mike!"
Adam shouted at Phoebe's fiancé, Ant-Man Mike, who had come with the ambulance and had just gotten out. "What happened?"
"Ugh."
Mike spread his hands, looking utterly helpless and not knowing where to begin.
"Adam, so she's your friend!"
Brooke's accompanying family member got out of the ambulance as well. The moment she saw Adam, she called out, "Why don't you do something about her? She hits way too hard—she's practically a street thug!"
"Carrie, she's your friend?"
Adam greeted her and tried to smooth things over. "Let's not talk about that yet. Get them apart first. I need to treat them, and you should talk to your friend too."
